Static midfield

Wish we’d just play McAtee as many games as possible and rotate with Coulibaly or even Arblaster. Fleck really is atrocious looks 5 yards off the pace of the game. Need a floating 10 to link up midfield and attack

Midfield is so static, when Doyle looks up he's only got Ndiaye and Mcburnie as a release.

Bristol City comments were along the lines of no idea how these lot are 2nd, and team that boots it long.

Glad we're proving them right.

I agree. How the hell are we second?

God next season if promoted is gonna be a fight against lowest points total. Worst promotion chasing side in 60 odd years but with some good players in Ndaye, Amel and McAtee. Main problem tonight was continually giving the ball away, it was embarrassing.

And as for Bozo the Nigerian potetial owner OMG.

Midfield has been shocking for the vast majority of this season. We cannot retain possession for any length of time against sides which are on paper hugely inferior. The frustrating thing is that we can actually CAN outplay and dominate teams yet I’m baffled as to why we don’t.
In the early part of the season it was simple - press Norwood and we are poor.
Is it something with the team orders as opposed to ability? Are we just set up to bore teams to death and try to nick a goal?

If we get promoted we will need a miracle in recruitment. Can we use the loan market well? Loans from PL Clubs and from foreign clubs. Should we be recruiting the Barnsley and Rotherham heads of recruitment. They seem to recruit well at League one/Championship level but can they do a job in EPL?
Or do we just do a Norwich and accept we are not going to stay up and so invest the PL money in the infrastructure of the Club. Sort the Kop out by getting rid of the pillars and improve spectator facilities. Invest in the Academy and turn it into a Category One facility. We have a very good track record of producing players with our current set up. Just think how good we could be if we had Category One status enabling us to attract even better players to start with.

Here’s an idea. Why don’t we stick with the recruitment team that brought in Anel, Doyle & McAtee.

We seem to create alot of chances and usually in the Championship a good striker is like 1 in 6 to 1 in 10 where Premiership closer to 1 in 2 or 3 goals per attempts. I don't buy into the we are this or we are that, in the Championship teams know they need to come to Bramall Lane and play their game plan, which is quite often frustrate the hell out of the midfield and stop the link up play, which causes the side to side and backwards passing. The last 2 home games we should have expected to win just based on the table alone however both Bristol and Cardiff set their stall out for a draw and try and nick it down the other end like Luton did a few months back.

I thought you was praising the 'rolls royce' on my post earlier? He's in our midfield...

It looked like we were playing 7-1-2, when the ball went into the middle third only Doyle in that 45 yard stretch while Bristol had 4 to 6 in the same area.
Result they totally bossed midfield, no idea where Berge and Fleck were but it most certainly wasnt midfield.
On comes mcatee and suddenly their midfield has less space, and we have more than just long balls down the channels.

Agree.....I watch our matches with an open mind and quite often I've no idea what we're trying to do.
We have little 10 to 15 minute spells where we develop attacks and look good, then we revert to aimless long ball.

It reminds me of Ali's rope-a-dope tactic against Forman.
We let the opposition have spells of control and let them attack us. Even at home we sometimes look like the away team.
We take all the punishment from them, try to demoralise them that they haven't scored, then have our little spell of good play.
I accept we're going to be promoted so Hecky deserves massive credit but I still have doubts he's that good as a manager
but I suppose results speak for themselves.

Also this season we're in so much financial trouble, that our style is irrelevant, it's non negotiable, we had to be promoted.
