Stamford Bridge

Our first visit to one of the Big Six clubs since we returned to the Premier League and I've got to say I love it. I'd not been to the ground before, we have only played there once in 25 years.
It is a bit 'touristy' outside, I was asked by a couple to take a photo of them outside the ground (I obliged!) but I enjoyed feeling I was at a big event.
The ground inside is impressive, the view on the upper tier fantastic and the huge stand opposite imposing.
I think the Chelsea fans near us were a bit bemused to have loads of drunken Blades shouting at them, they would get a shock of they ever went down to League One.
At one stage Blades fans were chanting about Sam Baldock being sat near us in the away end not sure if that was true?
I hope when Chelsea redevelop their ground they don't just build another soulless bowl.

I had a real feeling that was there on merit yesterday and there for a proper game of football, and not as some accessory to a footballing tourists day out to Stamford Bridge.

On the way back to Fulham Broadway station i had a brief chat with a old school Chelsea fan who said he was suprised about how good we are, and then said to me that my young un would always remember going to Stamford Bridge stealing a point and i turned round with a smile on my face and said he will always remember going to Stamford Bridge and being unlucky not to come away with a win.

Atmosphere sounded tragic from their end. Always thought Chelsea were similar to West Ham/Milwall in terms of supporters, how wrong I was

How very different The Bridge is from when I first started going back in the seventies. There would be no away colours on show as that would be suicidal and you’d keep your gob shut to conceal your accent. Yesterday the old ground was difficult to visualise, Blades on The Shed, only if you were an idiot, now we’re safely sealed in our comfy seats with the football tourists looking on from “the new three tier stand” or whatever it was called when built to our right. Not much noise coming out of there yesterday or passion, just a polite cheer when they scored and a quick exit at the end.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lovely stadium now, and I’m not wanting a return to the bad old days, but it just feels wrong somehow, the edge was missing. More like a visit to a rugby union match and full of occasional middle class fans wanting the football experience, but who couldn’t understand why the easy Chelsea win was not going to plan. Going to The Bridge in the seventies was an experience, yesterday was just another away day package in that there London.
Great to get one over on them all the same.

Bloody great day, from sitting outside the pub opposite the ground enjoying a beer or two before the game to that atmosphere in the Shed Upper watching our magnificent comeback and at the end blagging our way into Frankies Bar for more celebratory beers before a happy train journey back. Chelsea fans appeared to be mostly tourists and generated nothing by way of noise for 95% of the game. We are surprising the PL both on the field and in the stands and I’m loving it!

Went in 2007 and the difference in performances was staggering. United fans were incredibly loud yesterday. It sounded like a home game.

I went on the Shed in 1973 (probably 46 years ago to the same weekend exactly).

Not a wise decision. 2-1 winners that day.

The days of Joe Hawkins being 'tooled up' and travelling across London to cave a Chelsea fans' head in are long gone.

I was 2 rows in front of you then, deffo Baldock, he came a bit closer after half time, was clearly enjoying it. Tammy Abrahams family were a few rows in front of him.
