Monty and Quinny gone, its now an entirely new look United.

We've not exactly started the season brightly in terms of results, but we remain unbeaten.

We now have a young side and its mainly Wilsons own signings. The decks have been cleared and the old guard have all gone (for better or worse).

Its time to look forward and hopefully we can get out of this god foresaken division.

Onwards and upwards

Completely, agree mate.
I dont things can get any worse, so really the only way to look is up.

League two before the Championship. Book it now.

Agreed. Quinn is a loss, Monty is not. As mentioned elsewhere, this is ground zero time for United. We will re-emerge and grow with young, talented and hungry players. Might take some time, but the emphasis at the Lane is on developing and buying young players. This is brave decision, won't give instant success, but Alan Hanson famously got it wrong when he said 'you can't win anything with kids'. Man Utd won the double that year with a bunch of kids.

Hey, it's the worst analogy ever!

The current emphasis at the Lane is getting as much money back for McCabe as possible, and hang the consequences.

Hey, there's no bigger Blade than this fella ............ Kevin McCabe 31/8 /2012 Radio Sheffield Football Heaven

I can't wait. I have got what I want all summer which is 4 players off the wage bill who were earning over half of what the rest of the squad was earning. Can't run any business this way and I hope we start blooding the kids tomorrow. If we miss out on promotion this season, hopefully we will learn from it and do it next year. I really hope we replace quinn with some quality because if we get some kid on loan instead of playing our own I will be pissed.

I still think we can do it this year too.

luckily for us , theres loads of blades still around that moaned and complained when we got to the play off final in the championship, so they are lapping up our temporary lull and getting a full fix for their manic depression.
Why have a glass is half full, not half empty attitude when you can be a miserable twat

No lets blame all and sundry and wallow in misery
thats the way to progress
Lets expect the worse and really play into owls fans hands, by dragging our team down without giving it a chance
Brian the "blade" on radio , admitted not going now but just wanted Wilson out as hes a died in the wool owl apparently, what a tit that Brian is
we need fans like him like we need Robson back

Todays news isn't quite the same as Deane & Fjortoft leaving on the same day. Player will come and go, the importance is those left in the squad and Wilson to make the individuals into a team. Defensively we are ok, it is goals we are lacking - neither Monty or Quinn were going to get these.

Best of luck to both of them, they have been good servents for the club but the attention should be on the team tomorrow, not those who have left.

The situation now is just about where many of us expected to be at the start of last season - rebuilding with youngsters and the fringe players. As it turned out, the club couldn't get rid of all the big earners so they stuck with them and McCabe footed the bill. Now, with the Salary Cap, the club has had little choice.

Presumably all the other teams in our division are in a similar position. Let's see how it goes before we all slash our wrists.

I agree. I'm a cynic, and I hate KM, and I think losing Quinn will cost us points, but today is the start of the season. Make or break for a few people I'm guessing, expectations lowered (possibly) among the faithful, youngsters taking up full duties. It could be very exciting.

If we sign no-one, we know where we stand. So we either face League 1 on our knees, or get a grip and kick some ass as we have every potential to be.

We couldn't do it with money and its a lot harder without ................. so unless the ethos at BDTBL has changed were fooked.

Too right you've been a Blade too long, I think your brain gave out. Bet you're one of those that sing for 90 minutes and always gets behind the lads. Well what else can you do, they're brilliant, the manager's a true Blade and we have the greatest chairman in the world ever. Who could be miserable with all the rosy stuff going on at the Lane right now.

Blade too long? Sure you aren't a pig on a wind up?

Agreed Swiss. The last few years have been a disaster - in part due to the fact that we had a squad made up of players from the team "vision" of six different managers. We were then lumbered by silly contract terms making it impossible for the club/squad to adapt to the changing situations around it.

At the end end of the 2011 season I was obviously gutted but also relieved by the opportunity of a clean slate with a new (albeit then unpopular) manager. Unfortunately by the end of the transfer window the job still wasn't done.

Like you said for better or worse this is a new chapter. I'm not expecting much at all this season never mind promotion but it's what the club needs to do, to ensure future growth on the pitch.

About bleedin time.

sorry can't agree...still think we've got a crackin side for this league. still very confident

I sincerly hope you are right, I really do. I dont want to be an "I told you so" clever trousers , but I just have a feeling.

So if this is the start, what's the last three years been?
Last season was hardly wilderness was it? 90pts,and probably playing the best football we've played in donkeys. Granted it was played in the wilderness, but did you not enjoy it? I did. (apart from the implosion at the death). The wilderness years have only just started IMHO we'll be in this division, if not lower, for the next three years.
