No way! We're close to signing Podolski (9) after protracted negotiations and the number 7 is Brown returning.9. Jordan Rhodes
As it stands currently I’d go, if this were Football Manager (although 3-5-2 is a bastard for numbering)
1 Moore
2 Baldock
3 Stevens
4 L Evans
5 JOC
6 Basham
7 Fleck
8 Coutts
9 Clarke
10 Sharp
11 Brooks
12 Keeper
Stearman?
Wilder has shown little interest in changing numbers in the past.
Wilder has shown little interest in changing numbers in the past.
Transfer listed players tend to lose their numbers (like Coutts and Freeman when he first took over, Done, Hussey and Brayford last year).
Whatever their numbers are in pre-season training will be their squad numbers when the season starts (players like Done and Brayford had no squad numbers on their gear last summer, everyone who did have a number kept that number.
Players who join during a season might get changed (like Lavery losing 9 and Clarke getting it last summer).
That suggests that unless anyone leaves most of the 1-11 will be unchanged.
8 might change as Thomas is available (although he should never have been given it in the first place), the other listed players are in the 20s or have no number anyway.
11, 12, 16, 17 are vacant. Wright, Coutts, Freeman, Stearman, Duffy, Lafferty and Ched will stay where they are.
Leonard, L.Evans and Holmes might be given new numbers as they joined after the numbers were allocated, Lundstram joined after pre-season started, so it's possible he might get a different number too
Brooks will be the interesting one, he kept 36 last summer, so might stay there.
Of course this might all be a pointless waste of time and Wilder will just make stuff up in a few weeks time, or he might bugger off somewhere else and somebody else will come in and renumber everyone.
Part of the package to convince him to choose us over hometown club Boro at a guess. Not that it worked out particularly well for either party.Thomas shouldn’t be 8 anyway as he’s a winger and wasn’t likely to feature much, so that was an odd one
Yes so it did ! ...so a spare no 11 for whoever in an attacking midfield position is confident they will score some goals. No promised goals no can have it ! When TC played in our midfield he scored 16 goals in just one season. Now we are lucky if they score 2 each ! So this season I hope for massive improvements in goal scoring ....or at least trying to do this ....from our midfielders.Well number 11 went well...

I think Hogan can take the 9.So. Question regarding squad numbers.
As Clarke is only on loan to Wigan, does this mean that #9 is unavailable for the remainder of the season?
Expect Hogan to take Woodburns #11 If so.
