Players who aren’t good enough list: Donaldson, Jake Wright, Daniel Lafferty, Enda Stevens, Ricky Holmes, Samir Carruthers, James Wilson, Clayton Donaldson, Ched Evans, Caolan Lavery, Louis Reed, Chris Hussey, Nathan Thomas, Ben Heneghan, Simon Moore

Squad players: Chris Basham, Ryan Leonard, John Lundstram, Mark Duffy, Lee Evans, Leon Clarke, Billy Sharp, Richard Stearman, David Brooks, Keiron Freeman

Outstanding players: Jack O’Connell, John Fleck, Paul Coutts, Jamal Blackman (if he returns)

Ideal positions to improve:
Goalkeeper if Blackman returns to Chelsea. If so 2 goalkeepers.
2x centre back who aren’t soft and have a bit of pace
2x Left wing back
1x Defensive midfielder who offers the defence some support instead of our tiny midfield
2x Attacking midfielder with pace, skill, set play specialist and can shoot from distance
3x Strikers. Hopefully all abit different but have pace, strength, power and height
(3x Wingers if we change the formation)

Agree but think we should have Enda as second choice lwb.

Did you miss Baldock off Outstanding players?! I’d agree on the whole but I do think Stearman is a decent CB that is good enough to be first choice and in the playoffs. Attacking Midfield and upfront is our biggest weakness. I’m also not sure its fair on Ricky Holmes - always looks sharp on his limited chances and I have no idea why he’s not had more of a sniff

How much you got this down as costing?

Any departures you see helping to finance it? Keeping Fleck, Brooks AND O’Connell will be a stiff challenge with our ‘tradition’.

That’s my fear. I’d also struggle to see where Sharp fits in. He’s hardly blessed with any outstanding attributes of pace or power from the bench which is where he’ll be competing for.

About £3.5m, if McBurnie would be a loan.

We'll maybe recoup about £1m by selling other players, so then a spend of £2.5m really shouldn't be beyond us. If it is, then it's time to just pack it in.

Baldock seems untouchable for a lot of people but if we can get a more productive attacking RWB option then we should.

Agree top post.

Baldock looks good but he's got no end product. He needs a bit of work on him and could yet turn out OK though. The other one who's flattered to deceive is Lundstram, he's fucking rubbish. Not his fault as he had big boots to fill, but we had the JTW to sort that one out. This was the single most important factor in our demise.

Lundstram put his shirt on the right way today so I'm sure most will give him at least 8/10, but he offered nothing. He very rarely grabs hold of a game and has a big influence. He's OK and has good potential but he's not currently good enough for where we are aspiring to be. Same goes for Evans really.

Useless Fact

Our current squad has a combined total of 125 Premier League appearances and 6 goals.

Whilst good shouts, I can't imagine Marshall, Robinson or Egan would sign for us, or Swansea would let us have McBurnie.

McBurnie would be difficult, even on loan, with all the interest in him and Swansea possibly wanting him there.

I'm quite sure Robinson and Egan would sign for us. Marshall probably would but that might be challenging financially.

Egan and Marshall both play for clubs that are above us and let's be honest Sheffield can hardly compete with London as a place to live.I'd be also surprised if their clubs would want to sell them and if we could afford them.

Robinson seems more likely.

Certainly need to off load one or two but I’ll concentrate on what we need

1x Keeper if we can’t get Blackman

Left Wing Back - Stevens form disappeared after Oct and Lafferty not this standard

Centre Half - Been crying out for a good ball wining / organising CH the number of goals we’ve conceded from long balls into the box has cost us dearly

Right Wing Bsck - Cover / Completion for Baldock and our system has such a heavy reliance on the wing backs

Wide Left / Right Midfielders - someone who can overlap and get down the right flank or 442 option

1 Forward with pace , we just haven’t had that option this season

1 Target Man ( Matt Smith ) who can hold the ball up bring midfield players in & be a real handful on corners & set pieces , again a missing piece in the jigsaw this season

I think we’ll struggle to get Blackman back next season, surely Chelsea would want him loaned out elsewhere and there is no chance we can afford him on a permanent.

Robinson seems more likely.

Marshall is a Wolves player and he'll be nowhere near their plans next season. We're surely a better long term prospect than Millwall. He, like Robinson, is also a northerner, which could work in our favour. Egan is Irish and has spent more time up north, I think he'd like to play for us.

I think we’ll struggle to get Blackman back next season, surely Chelsea would want him loaned out elsewhere and there is no chance we can afford him on a permanent.

Why would Chelsea want him elsewhere? He won't get in any PL first team. That narrows it down to the Championship. If he's going out on loan again then someone London based like QPR or Brentford could be our biggest threat but they already have good, stable number 1 keepers.

Just seen Mo Eisa's free kick for Cheltenham today. We couldn't half do with someone who can do that. We haven't had a direct free kick threat for years.

22 league goals for him now in a mid table team. Very impressive. I definitely think a Championship team will take a punt on him. Well worth it given how quickly and how much strikers can jump in value these days.

Lundstram put his shirt on the right way today so I'm sure most will give him at least 8/10, but he offered nothing. He very rarely grabs hold of a game and has a big influence. He's OK and has good potential but he's not currently good enough for where we are aspiring to be. Same goes for Evans really.

He was the second best player in league one after Watkins when we signed him Ricky, but some still think we should be recruiting from the lower leagues.

Our leading scorer and pick for Championship team of the season came from “the lower leagues”. I’d only we’d spent millions like our neighbours.
