Sponsor too late

End of the day you don’t know any of the facts of the sponsorship deal or the process behind it.

Personally, I can’t imagine it’s an easy job persuading a company to hand over hundreds of thousands of pounds to sponsor United. So starting to get picky with petty things like it can’t be green isn’t going to help.

I can’t see it hitting sales that much, no kid will give a shit about the sponsor or white back, they just want a United shirt.

Of course, I don’t know. But then in fairness neither do you. We can only speculate.

I don’t disagree, it can’t be an easy job. But I would have thought it’s one of the main priorities for the non-football staff at the club, and is something they could be building towards throughout the year. In my eyes, it doesn’t make business sense to compromise the look of the shirt for the sake of a few extra thousand, hypothetically, which might be gained by procuring sponsorship in the way they have.

I think the impact on sales will be more substantial than you anticipate. But it’s all about opinions, and I respect yours.

I don't think the sponsor is what'll impact sales, the back of the shirt will impact sales I think, but generally I don't think the majority of the shirt buying portion of United fans will give two shits about either.

To be honest I think we've been spoiled a tad by having sponsors who bent to our will and let us put their logos in black, but even in green I think it looks fine, especially when you looks at Ipswich's sponsor this season.

We also had alpharooms on our away in the promotion season that was blue and orange on a kit and people bought that, so I think it'll be the back as I said that's the sticking point.

What's the likelihood of them just changing the transfer on the front then? Whether it's getting rid of the box and still having green letters just with a stroke around them like teletext and alpharooms, or changing the green to black and leaving it in a box?
They’ve done this before when we had Visit Malta as a sponsor. It started off orange:

but they changed it to black and white after a couple of games:

Unfortunately I think this was because Visit Malta complained that the logo was hard to read, rather than the result of fans’ complaints.

I don’t get the issue with the shirt full stop.

It’s a fucking football kit. It’ll no doubt be best shirt ever if we get promoted too.
Some of us like to perfect the kit for what we see as the ultimate Blades kit. It was clear last season that it was an iconic kit among many fans, but this new one isn't really that

Just release the shirt sponsorless if the sponsor isn’t agreed then sell with the logo on when it’s done. Forest have done it before. I don’t like the white back but the shirt itself does look good quality. Bodging it up in a rush job to get some shit sponsor logo on it then still charging £45 isn’t really on.

If it really is a bodge job with a terrible quality transfer some people might have their wish because it'll come off in the wash after 3 washes.

I bought a McLaren team shirt like that once, I swear they used airfix transfers.

United could pioneer it, temporary sponsors, no-one really likes them.

I would imagine most shirt sales are during the first month after release therefore you are reducing the value of the sponsorship deal. Plus fans would moan that their shirt wasn’t a true replica.

The World Cup hasn’t finished yet so what’s the rush?

Yes but Juve rarely have stripes on their backs anymore. When they do they only have to apply big stupid boxes on the back when they play in Europe

Saves us having to do the same next season when we win the FA Cup this coming season. ;)
