I've been thinking how that crock of shite could even start to make amends for yesterday's display.

How about, for the play-offs, each first team player who earns over £5k a week is made to draw 10 names out of the hat out of a set of fans who have over a certain level of loyalty points... say at least the amount of points that would cover a season ticket a year since the system started.

For that particular match, that player sponsors those 10 fans and it is down to that player to ensure his fans have a good time... different sets of fans are drawn out for the home leg, away leg and if, by some small miracle, Wembley.

So... the player stumps up the readies to buy his fans match tickets. He loads £50 on a Wetherspoons card or a Copthorne card or whatever for each of his fans to go and get some food and ale before the match. If they have to travel a long way, he pays their petrol money or if they're close, bus fare... but he's made to ring/email and check that all his fans can get to the game safely and what their requirements are.

Most importantly of all, after the game, he is made to face his fans for them to say thank you for his sponsorship and for them to tell him a bit about their day.

Not only will the players start to understand just how much bloody money we mere mortals have to spunk on them but it might make them start taking their responsibilities towards the fans just that bit more seriously and understand how much it means for us to watch them if they are forced into a face-to-face after the game.

If they get to Wembley, it'd be an expensive do for them. But it is for us too, and more importantly, it matters to us.

That's a great idea, especially given that I might have to sell some of my Blu Ray Steelbooks to get to Wembley this year!

Surely it can only move within a 10 yard square?

Doyle = Lada.

A knock-down priced utility vehicle which, because of it's build quality, consistently causes its owner grief as its reliability and servcieability is questionable.

I would pay £5k if I could sponsor the entire first team, hang them upside down, and use them as pinatas'. The sense of closure would be enormous.

The team is like a typical fleet of Austin Allegro!

Now now Pommpey, as a tribute to Darren and his socialist principals I bought a Lada in 1987 YDL707T, living as I did on the IoW (IoW reg's were DL plates). It was a great car, 100% reliable, bright yellow and belted along quite nicely. Ok the fuel gauge was termed triangle star somethingorother and after a couple of years the fan in the heater motor emitted a whine remeniscent of a Chernobyl warning alarm, but what a motor. Never let me down.

Aye, but when you're earning £5K+ a week the cost of a Blades day/weekend is mere pocket money to them.

Something tells me they've pissed you off somewhat of late Linz?

:)

Im guessing they are all on around £3-£5k each.

I would be surprised if it's not slightly higher, considering our "highest wagebill in the division" and having a good idea as to what certain players were on before being shipped out. Don't forget the bonuses too.

Point still stands though. They can afford to offer a goodwill gesture to the fans after stealing that wage, for the most part, for months.

Alledgedly they wouldnt give a small donation to help keep employed a couple of old time part timers who worked at the club for years so dont hold your breath. Nice to meet you guys yesterday btw ,could say you were Good Companions :)

surprised by this thread, i was expecting more along the lines of

THIS is Linz
she is a Sheffield United supporter
her team is in crisis and she needs your help
for just £5 pounds per month you could sponsor Linz..
get her to away games, buy pies and support her website
just £5 per month
Sheffield United supporters need your help
THIS HAS TO STOP.. NOW

:D
