I'm a big admirer of Chris Wilder and believe what he's done so far has been magic , but I don't think some posters are thinking through the situation he's now in, and I don't mean 442.352 or what ever system he chooses to play. I'm talking about spending big money on players and getting value for it.
It's great finally getting back into the Championship and it must be a big temptation to splash the cash and go for it, but this is also the time when a couple of big mistakes could not only cost the club but also severely damage the reputation he's building for himself.
This season has got to be has big a learning curve for him on the financial side as it will be for him and most of the team on the playing side so lets give them some space and all the support we can, they deserves that a least .
Times have changed since the days we had Neil W. who was/is good at choosing and getting the best out of his players, but never seems to get the hang of spending big money, can Chris go one better ?

When you pay 1.5m plus then he's probably going to become a top earner so I don't think we will spend big this season.

The team is what matters, he says it enough!

" Sandy" ? Did you used to be in Crossroads, and get about in a wheelchair ?

Who can't love what Wilder is doing / has done?

That said, in all but the rare exception, or club's policy will have taken us as far as we can expect. We've got to spend bigger in the near future, but that's only looking likely to happen if we're under new ownership.

I'm not criticising the present regime here, but questioning whether they have the clout to compete anymore.

The risk (of spending big money) to Wilder's reputation shouldn't come into it, and I have no doubt he'd love the chance to spend more.

...a pizza and ten million quid wasn't it!? ;)

This season, for a few clubs - especially in the Midlands - it seems that it is 'shit or bust'. There has been a lot of money spent with the gamble that it will get them promotion. I am pleased we have taken a more cautious approach.
