I noticed that Gary Speed was a lot more active in the technical area last night, more so than Blackwell I thought. Anyone else agree? Or was it just coincidence each time I looked across?

I am not trying to suggest that his increased visibility had any impact on the performance or result, by the way. For me last night was an improvement on Saturday, it maybe papered over a few cracks, the real test is Saturday and hopefully not giving as much space and possession to Doncaster, who will offer a bit more up front that Blackpool.

Also, regarding Speed, I thought he dealt with the post match interview really well, although I accept Giddings is hardly a tough interviewer. The one "tricky" question regarding Billy's availability to Donny on Saturday was handled well, along the lines of "I am not privy to that, but if I had known it was going to be asked I would have found out for you". Okay it may be a load of bull, but I don't think Sam Ellis would have engaged his brain before answering that question and we would no doubt have heard some snidey response.

There is obviously a chance that a managerial opportunity will come along and Speed may move on and in the current climate his wages may be a concern at the Lane. However, i would rather see us offer him a longer term coaching deal witha view to managerial succession and save some costs with Sam Ellis' salary.

I am sure Speed is very active on the training pitch as the coach of the team,as for a manager he has zilch experience.
The club needs an experienced manager with fresh ideas not a trainee who learns from his mistakes as he goes, although he would be the cheap option.

We cant afford an experienced manager anymore.

FAO BB - If Blackie was "Cheap as Chips" and Speed's cheaper, then what's his nickname

Being groomed for future manager maybe??????

He will be our next manager. I can't see KB lasting past the end of this season and we're not going to pay for anyone else to come in. He is the obvious choice by default.

Having said that, I think he will be a good manager because he has an excellent football brain and will attract decent players. I wouldn't complain if United gave him his first chance.

Me neither. Deffo worth a shot for the final 10 games or so.

Give Speedo the job !
Di Matteo is not doing too bad for a Rookie manager neither is Chris Hughton!!!

Haughton only has a £45M budget, doing well isn't he?

And before someone says they are top of the league that budget should see them clear by more than one point!

'I am sure Speed is very active on the training pitch'

Why have we been watching shit then???

So Speed should have some balls and stand up to him or he's not management material!!

I'm sure he puts his twopennorth in, but his job isn't to decide on the tactics or pick the team.

i would like a more experienced manager, someone in the roy hodgson mould to come in with speed as number 2, eventually taking over the reins.

Good, because it's been this way for the last few games. Definitely vs QPR which I saw with my own eyes and definitely one of the last two away games, I forget which, because I listened to the radio and Edwards noted it.

Because Blackwell picks the team & decides on the tactics.

very true and why is he still playing quinn?
quinny must be up his arse.
And we should play football they know they can do it. Just gets you mad some times, You pay good money to watch them hoff it.

As you were, chaps.

KB has done all the preview stuff for the Donny game.

That's Speed's 15 minutes of fame over.

Speed was on "Quesh" a few weeks ago. I notice that although Sir Neil has been on, and Bradley Walsh, Blackwell hasn't.
