If and when he does recover fully, it's an absolute no brainer to try and get this lad in permanently, regardless of what level we are playing at next season. If we are in the PL there will be question marks about how effective he might be, but they will probably hang over most of our players and I don't think most of us expect us to stick around there for too long anyway. When a player fits in as well as he did and improves the team so visibly at this level, I think you have to take the chance to get him back.

He said available, but not fit for a full 90 mins
Should be okay for selection then as none of the others seem to be able to last 90 minutes according to Wilder's tactics

Sorry mate but I think that’s an awful take, unless we’re going to a three at the back.
We need a new centre back pairing but if big Harry is one of them we’re looking at taking a lot of thumpings again.

Lovely to see him back yesterday and I’m really pleased he looks back fondly on his time with us.

Well it's all about opinions, but I fail to see how Souttar doesn't make this squad stronger, whether in a 2 or a 3, or in the PL or Champ.

Don't see why that would be the case
If he comes back. From injury the same player he would be head and shoulders above any defender who has payed for us since o connell got injured

I agree with all the previous posters. Souttar probably better than both our CBs, but hard to envisage him doing well in the prem surrounded by pacey opposition.

It is indeed about opinions and I agree he will strengthen the squad but would be as much of a liability as Robinson if we go up in my view. He’s slow, easily turned and in a two too easily exposed. If we go to a three then this is mitigated but you lose options elsewhere.

If I’m honest Cooper aside I think we’re looking weak all over the squad, leaving us hoping Hamer, Anel and Souza can step up better than last time and relying on the kids to step up again to be able to play regular first team football as starters in the PL.
On the plus side, I don’t think anyone from the PL or similar comes in for our players this summer unlike last time and I think we’ve got the base to be relegated and come back up stronger with the kids and Cooper, Burrows, Campbell etc, who the PL clubs won’t gamble on.

I just think he’s not got the raw attributes to not be exposed at that very high level. I agree with your comparison but given our last two relegations I’d propose that this bar isn’t any where near high enough for what we would undoubtedly need to hope to stay up. Unless we play a 3 of course.

If we sign him then I hope I’m completely wrong.

He could work in a 3 with 2 pacier players either side.
It's a misconception that he's slow, he's maybe not lightning quick but never got beat one on one in any game I saw

You might be right I guess it's hypothetical now anyway isn't it as its highly unlkely he will be back to his best for the season starting

Unfortunately I agree with you. What we most certainly need is a dominant leader at the back and he was that.

I loved Souttar, but i think he'd get absolutely rinsed in the Premier League. The pace is unreal.

He was unbelievable in this division as there's a lot of high balls over the top and from the flanks, he just mopped it all up. In the PL it's on the floor a lot more

I suppose it depends on how deep our new owners pockets are, I would agree most of the squad will struggle if we go up but just can’t see us shelling out 150-200 million plus wages as much as we probably know the players who should be loaned out/sold if we get promoted only time will tell

Yes the pace does increase massively, but there are a few nippy players at this level and I don't recall him getting out run too often. I am not saying he would cope necessarily well in the PL, but out of our current squad who would? 2 or 3 players maybe? I just think he is an investment worth making, because he is still young enough to kick on another level or we have a supreme Champ level player at our disposal (which we are more than likely to need again, sooner rather than later).

He may not have the fastest leg speed, but being so tall he covers a lot of ground with fewer strides than most players.

I think Harry Souttar epitomises what Sheffield United stands for, on and off the pitch. Within a few weeks, he was a fan favourite because he gave it his all. Sure, he is a talented footballer, but what Blades fans want, no demand, is someone who is committed and no nonsense.

I'm sure all clubs' fans would say similar but there is something in our DNA that warms to players like Harry. I get the impression it's two ways too. Really hope he gets back to his best very soon.

When I first saw him I thought he was going to be a blunt centre half !! but the lads a bit of a ball playing cb hopefully we'll get him permanent ( depending on his injury) even if we don't achieve promotion

Love Souttar and wish him a speedy recovery.

But if he was a premier league defender Leicester wouldn’t have sent him out on loan.
