Souttar

Couldnt agree more. In an ideal world we move him on last Summer with the other past their sell by date players like Norwood, Fleck, McBurnie. But here we are....

Maybe it's harsh, but i don't see him getting a game at any other top half Championship side and/or having the skills & attributes to be successful in 2024. But we're now relying on him for the foreseeable..
I don’t think he’s a bad defender at all, in the same way Osborn was good at what he did. But the reality is that they were both better suited to when we were getting spanked every week in the PL and JLT could put the odd booming slide tackle in whilst little Ben ran around and looked busy chasing shadows.

If this is true and he's out for the season, it's sad for him, but could be good news for us.

We send him back to Leicester, get another loan CB in, then buy Souttar in the summer for a knock down price as he's injury prone. 👍

In top level sport if you're standing still, you're going backwards. JLT in the team means we're not evolving, not developing and all the time the teams around us are.

Souttar showed us what the next level of modern defender looked like and raised the standard for those around him. Without him I fear we'll regress and the likes of Burrows & Gilchrist/Seriki won't develop in the way they could have!

JLT is a 5/10 defender at this level, which is fine if you're mid table. No doubt he could go to Preston and play like that for another 3 seasons. We're hoping our trajectory is different.

Thank you Harry Souttar. You have been a colossus at the heart of our defence for the first half of the season, and played a key part in turning our back line from a leaking sieve into a stone wall. You are a big part of the reason that we're in the position that we are.
Good luck in making a full recovery, and returning to the game at a high level.

Gutted for him and the team, he’s been a star this season. Proper handful for any opposing striker. Need to sign a like for like if possible to finish the season.
Shows how a small squad can be exposed by such a punishing schedule.
However, good luck for the future Harry, would love to see you back, fully fit in the middle of our defence.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

So gutted this means we won’t hear anymore of the Souttar song to the tune of the Macarena. Let’s go and get his brother John from Rangers just so we don’t have to create a new chant

I'm quite relieved he's not done his ACL again. Think that would have been the worst scenario

Unfortunately our transfer priorities have now shifted drastically. We’re now in the market to replace the players we’ve lost, instead of enhancing the team we already have. So in essence our wafer thin squad depth isn’t going to alter. If this doesn’t emphasise what a disadvantage we had compared to Leeds and Burnley, nothing will.
This just illustrates what a brilliant job Chris done thus far…But his hardest work of all starts now.

Bang on this, JLTs lack of a footballing brain means that Burrows is less effective straight away. He’s stopper who is up for a fight and that’s it. Maybe Gilchrist alongside Anel could/should be considered when Seriki is back.
Forget automatic now….which isn’t a bad thing.

Probably the saddest I've felt about a players injury in a long time. Gutted for him. As some have said the fact it was a loan we can replace is the only silver lining.

Hope wilder has a few replacement options lined up - hopefully another big fucker.
'Probably the saddest I've felt about a player's injury in a long time'.

Souttar's injury is 'sad' but doesn't really compare to the career ending injuries to Basham and JOC.

Souttar ought to consider calling time on his international career, for the benefit of his club career.

From a team perspective Souttars injury was like
Coutts at Burton - you knew something special was going to be missing

Surprised he hasn't gone back to Leicester yet as in cancelled loan?

The club thanked him and wished him well on social media so that pretty much confirms he’s done and gone / going back.

Might be sorting the admin with Choudhury coming the other way in a one hit

Wilder mentioned him the other day in our long term injuries with Arblaster (our player)

Sorry I've missed the social media posts about Souttar and I'm active on them 🙈
