There’s no incentive to rip up their contracts. If Leicester go down they’re odds on for admin again and players will be a preferred creditor. They can dig their heels in, or do what half of wendies squad did in the summer and leave on free if they don’t get paid.
Yeh , football's a game for high-rollers now ...
Sad but true

According to reports Zatterstrom didn't look that good in the U21s.
I think he’s only played one game.

Given how tight budget will be next season and we potentially can’t find a home for him he’ll be fine keeping the bench warm and going out in the first rounds of the cups.

Agree but what would most people choose if offered the following

2026-2028 (2 seasons)
Option A: Do you play most weeks (receiving criticism, possible adulation abuse) for £25K a week (£1.3 million a year = £2.6 million)
Option B: Don’t play any 1st team match (no pressure or hassle/ abuse), just turn up for training for £150K a week (£7.8 million a year = £15.6 million).

So in Kalvin Phillips case…..would imagine he wants to play games
But joining us on £25K means he’s losing £13 million…..don’t think anyone would pay £13 million to see game time for 2 seasons.
He’s not going to play for England anymore….wouldnt blame him for basically sitting at home watching his bank balance grow.

Would imagine a deal will be done with Man City….instead of paying him £15.6 million….they might pay him £5 million to rip up his contract.
Then at least Man City have saved themselves £10.6 million and he then becomes a free agent….so we could then afford to offer him £25K a week.
Why should he give up £10m to an oil state ?

I think it was El Accounto who claimed he's behind Baptiste in the pecking order

Straight swap for T Davies. If we're going to nurse a long-term crock on the offchance he returns to form I'd rather it was him.

I’d swap McGuiness for a bag of Space Raiders…
He won us the points with his headed clearance off the line and got Lunny booked for after their set to, he also won most of his headers and tackles. Give him stick when he has a bad game but joint man of the match with Rothwell on Saturday for me.

Agreed he did ok on Satdi.
Still don’t rate him based on the season’s performances as a collection.

Would be up there as one of the most moronic signings we could possibly make. May as well see what Jack O’Connell is up to while we’re at it.

The poor bloke has had 3 surgeries. Two of them on the same career threatening injury sustained Boxing Day 2024 and has barely kicked a ball since.

Read up on Achilles surgeries… there’s a fairly high percentage of people that never regain full mobility after reconstruction. Never mind having it done twice, as an elite level athlete reliant on fainting full mobility back.

MAYBE if he has an injury free season regaining fitness and form in Leicesters league one season next season then he could be worth a look.

Aren’t people seeing how long it’s taking Arblaster to find fitness again?

We need a fit squad capable of pushing eachother through 90 mins 3 times a week without taking punts on players who’ve barely kicked a ball in 18 months.

Yes he was brilliant for us and it he and Arblaster didn’t get injured and we probably go up comfortably. Welcome back anytime and would glad buy him a pint but not as a new signing.

That’s fair.

If man city want him out of the door they will have to pay the vast majority of his contract up .he's not walking out of 15m worth of contract for 5
We need intelligent footballers who can recognise the opposition tactics and strategies and respond to them - that's their value, eg Riedewald.
Players who sacrifice £15m are not that smart, but more desperate to leave. That desperation can be very poisonous.
There's always an ego thing about their career but money in the back pocket is what matters.

Soutar should be our first signing.
Why ?
It’s taken Rodri 5 months to get up to speed and he’s lost some pace Arblaster is a shadow of the potential he was prior to injury
So taking a gamble on Soutter is so SUFC isn’t it 2/3 year contract incoming

I think we need a Soutter esque player. Dominant in the air but also a leader and organiser of the defence.
