They’ve got multi year sponsorship and TV deals that make them one of the wealthiest teams outside of the premier league. They are also something like the 80th highest watched sports team in america.

They’re spending it because they’ve got it rolling in from multiple revenue streams they’ve tied down for the next few years

It doesn’t just unravel for them if they miss out on promotion this seaon.

They’ll sack Parkinson pretty soon anyway and attract a really big name manger who’ll get them up at doe point.

As much as it would be glorious to watch it all unravel I don’t see it.

He’s never been particularly quick and is coming back from an ACL injury, so I’m not sure he is going to speed up to any great extent at this stage of his career. But maybe some weird alchemy involving Souttar’s transfer to Rectum might just do it, who knows.

The bigger problem they have is if they don’t go up to the Premier League soon - that their American owners & investors & sponsors get bored of waiting for their project to be complete. 100% Parkinson will be gone by Xmas unless they are in the top 2.

Great & accurate summary. The only concern they should have is if despite throwing loads of money at it that they still don’t get to the Premier League this season or next. After that I could see some US investors / sponsors getting bored & not renewing deals. They need to get promoted quickly to maintain interest. Hence why unless they are top 2 by Xmas - Parkinson will be sacked.

They seemed to buy into getting advice from football men quickly, listened to supporters and made reasoned decisions

Literally the exact opposite of how ours have gone about things

If anyone thinks we can replace McGuiness with a flawless cetre back with pace , presence , great on the ball , good in the air etc I think they are mistaken .

Any centre back we sign will not have every attribute , I dont think one exists that does , never mind one thats available within our budget.

What we have and the cover is as good as were going to get and probably more than adequate in the championship.

We’ve been properly spoiled with centrebacks for at least 10 years. Egan, O’Connell, Bash, Ahmedhodzicc, Souttar, Tanganga, going back further you’ve got Jags, Morgs, Killgallon etc… we know what good looks like but we do set the bar higher than most clubs.

We’ve also had to watch the likes of Claude David and Jack Robinson!
