We were losing around £15m a year before player transfers last accounts. I’m assuming the rush to sell Brooks was to balance the books for last financial year but it would suggest we’ll need some more big sales before we can even start thinking about big fees.

If we do sign Souttar (and I’m not convinced we will) it’ll be towards the end of the window and we’ll have had to sell some big earners like Hamer, O’Hare, Campbell of Cannon. I haven’t seen any interest for these players yet.

Depends on his salary and our budget. I’m sure I’ve read previously he’s on a massive contract for an EFL team (and Leicester reportedly didn’t have relegation clauses in their contracts).

Whether he was ever scouted by a sentient being from the Lane;
any evidence that he is a footballer;
Any belief that he would ever be worth more than the £fee we paid

He won’t be getting that contract or near it, doubt even Wrexham offer near it

If he wants to play higher than 3rd tier he likely will need to take a wage cut

It could not be any clearer and whatever budget constraints we have in place should, bluntly, be ignored in this instance.

Anyone paying more than a couple of million for him is insane. What are Leicester going to do? Keep a very expensive, unhappy, soon to be 28 year old player who can earn them an upfront paid fee in L1? A player with recent, severe injuries, who hasn't played more than 21 league games in a season since Covid? One who plays for an international team that means you'll lose him for an additional couple of games season through travel tiredness?

I'm not sure signing him at all is a great move . He played very well but United's defensive numbers had an element of luck that 21 matches too and he doesn't solve the fact neither of our CBs can pass the ball. But for a big fee? Madness.
