Also don't forget that Bournemouth cheated financially before it was on trend.Nah it's not. There's no footballing soul in Bournemouth. It's all artificial
They don't deserve anything more than a League Two club. Take away their rich owner and that's where the club will sink back down to. Be like Wigan when Dave Whelan leftm
I'd rephrase speculate with cheat![]()
You appear to have filled some gaps in for yourself there.I dunno, all these so called smaller clubs (Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Fulham and even Burnley FFS! seem to be a damn sight sexier than us when it comes to attracting buyers and inward investment. Yes, we’ve completed our takeover now, but they weren’t exactly queuing round the block, and the long drawn out process was about as smooth as shitting out a breeze block.
They really are shit aren't they?
On holiday recently, I saw a bloke with a football T shirt on that had about 5 strips from previous years, including a red and white stripe one. It looked very similar to one of ours a few years ago, so naturally I stopped and asked if he was a Blade.6 points after 21 matches.
We were on 10 at the same point in the most depressing, horrendous season I’ve seen. After 24 games we were on 13.
I wonder if they feel as bad as we did.
They haven’t had as many batterings like 5-0, 6-0 or even an 8-06 points after 21 matches.

ErmWould he be 3 and a half foot tall?
But they've had two 5-0s and a 5-1.....so farThey haven’t had as many batterings like 5-0, 6-0 or even an 8-0
Perhaps we can make a final decision in May 2025.Sheffield United definitely the worst team ever in the PL. Got told that every week even though i saw the shite myself.
Man U were crap, got out of jail with Diallo’s goals but they were really poor.It was a weird one last night. Southampton were running Man Utd ragged, they were playing really well but weren't clinical enough up front. Sulemana (spelling?!??!) was unplayable.
I was watching and wanted both to lose. I have nothing against Southampton, but would find it hilarious if Derby's record was broken... i honestly don't think it ever will be like.
If Southampton finish on less than 16 points, it would push us further away from the worst points tally and also edge our Covid season towards an exit from the top 10

I wanted Man Utd to lose, because well, how funny would it be to see them relegated![]()
Yes, it is quite interesting that Southampton don't get the same stick as United did last season. They spent money, we sold our best two players. Definite media biased towards us. To many entitled Premiership clubs.6 points after 21 matches.

Until I’ve read that ‘worst points’ table i don’t think I actually realised how badly we did. I remember seeing Huddersfield go down in 18/19 and thinking how embarrassing they were.It was a weird one last night. The Prince has that on his legacy, along with the "good stuff".Until I’ve read that ‘worst points’ table i don’t think I actually realised how badly we did. I remember seeing Huddersfield go down in 18/19 and thinking how embarrassing they were.
Looks like we trumped that when you add the goal difference into it![]()
I bet they do. They hadn't sold their best players to start the season, so will have gone into the season with more enthusiasm.6 points after 21 matches.

Apart from the strikers. They're the same.Southampton's squad is miles better than ours was last season, there's no way they should be this shite.
Just shows you the idiocy of having Russell 'I'll stick to my principles' Martin in charge in the PL.
Southampton "thrashings" by Feb 14th 2025:I think the stick we received last season was due to our 'goals conceded' column.
Up to the 0-8 thrashing by Newcastle it was an even tempered criticism but after that and the 5's and 6's were appearing we became a bit of a laughing stock.
Southampton haven't been on the end of lots of heavy defeats.
Two 4-0 batterings since thisSouthampton "thrashings" by Feb 14th 2025:
5-0 v Spurs
5-0 v Brentford
5-1 v Chelsea
Blades "thrashings" by Feb 14th 2024:
8-0 v Newcastle
5-0 v Arsenal
5-0 v Burnley
5-0 v Villa
We then went on to add a 5-0 v Brighton, 6-0 v Arsenal and 5-1 v Newcastle.
By this time last year, compared to them now we also had 1 more win, 1 more draw, had scored 4 more and had only conceded 4 more (the Newcastle result can be thanked for that).
I'd argue Southampton still have time for some thrashings to rival us with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal to play. The Newcastle 8-0 is obviosuly the stand out but I always think the atmosphere around the club that week we were ripe for demolishen.
In conclusion - two utterly abject teams and seasons and every chance they can and will be worse than us. It'll be interesting to see how they bounce back considering how well Wilder has done with us this year
Quite a few times I see posts around (not here) saying 'they're just like Sheffield United', but this time last season both us and Burnley were on 13 points. Not that I'm saying we were good, we were awful, just that everyone sees United as the benchmark of how bad the worst PL teams are rather than the fact it's all the promoted teams in the last 2 years. In 27 games so far, Southampton have conceded 65 goals. That's 2.4 goals per game.
Maintain 2.4 goals a game until end of season (11 more games) would have them on 91 conceded.
However, their goals conceded in last 10 is 2.9 per game and over the last 5 games is 3.0.
Last time they conceded less than 2 in a DEFEAT was on Boxing day - a 1-0 loss to West Ham. They only conceded 1 against Ipswich too, in a 2-1 win.
Since boxing day, their results are: 1-3, 2-3, 1-3, 2-1, 1-3, 0-4, 0-4
Their remaining games are:
They need 3 points from that lot to let Derby keep the record points low
