Sounds close to a threat to walk

Happened to me just the once in my career, took a job and not very long into it I had that Oh Shit moment when I realised what I had landed into, and how it had been mis-sold to me. I did my best, and achieved some things I think, but it never really improved for me personally and took me nearly two years to dig myself out again.

Hope this is not what this is about but it's looking like it might be (though I'd imagine Slav will probably be in a much better financial situation than I was and won't be worrying whether he can afford for his kids to go to Uni like I was when I was considering walking).

He’s gunna walk. Simple. There is no money coming hes been treated like a twat so I don’t blame him. Foreign owners don’t give a fuck about the fans. It’s all going tits up.

I highly doubt the players being shite is completely new to Slav, and I highly doubt our owner would’ve promised a massive rebuild after all the money thrown away.

Its probably somewhere in the middle, but if Slav is starting to get tetchy with the board after five games it’s not going to end well.

I think the manager thinks he may have been sold down the river Don . Is the prince and the board speaking with a forked tongue? Again. Can we believe a word these guys are saying? Or in this case NOT saying .
To be honest what it does is confirm why wilder left I noticed the Darren on twitter backing his chum Prince. If another manager leaves then it tells you a lot about the owner

Heckyball by xmas
What I don’t understand is why waste money on paying for a manager like Slav (he must be one of the best paid managers in the league given his pedigree) if you aren’t going to back him?(looking more like we won’t)

why not sticking with Heckingbottom and not piss money up the wall that it looks like we don’t have …take the emotion of supporting united out of it and it just seems a shit way to run a business

Fair play to Slav. If he was promised transfer kitty in his contract, or certain targets etc them this should be delivered by his employer. However, I’m thinking the lack of funds this window (so far), May not be intentional. Maybe after paying out for everything including assets? The PL and parachute cash is simply not enough (or not actually in the bank yet), So maybe Prince is struggling to get a loan from Lombard ?? 0800215000 as I recall!!
Or Perhaps we need payday loans… UTB

Where we heard this before?

I recall the last manager mentioning sticking to the strategy too!
Seems they may well be liars as well.

Like all us blades I’m desperate for us to do well and this manager is nobody’s fool.
We are severely lacking in confidence, pace, cutting edge, And we don’t look up for the fight either tbh. But.. Slav must have had reassurances on transfers, loans, player sales, and reviewed the current squad before he took the job. Career suicide if not!

My worry is that he’s watching this lot and thinking.. shit. I need more that 3 or 4 here. There’s deadwood all over the park!! IF that’s what he now feels. We may have an issue as PA may not want to sanction more than 3 or 4. (Or maybe 5 when SB leaves). Which is the common consensus. But yes he will need time to get players in, and tactical messages across. That doesn’t however absolve him from any judgement. Wins buy you time. 4 nils dont. Simple as that.
Feeling i may have seen this coming a couple of weeks ago… starting to feel a bit too real for my liking.

So, it has happened already. A key part of Wilder's role throughout his tenure was "managing upstairs" - hanging his resignation over these chancers like the sword of Damocles as lie after lie was told. I told you all that the emperor has no clothes a long time ago, but a lot of you didn't want to face up to the reality staring you in the face, instead backing the misers over one of our best ever managers. In doing this, Slav has made a bigger statement than even Wilder did during his tenure: he has called the board out for their lies and ineptitude when they are negotiating for players to leave; in so doing, potentially undermining our negotiations with other clubs midway through the negotiation process for players leaving the club. Extremely explosive stuff so early into his tenure. Regardless of the outcome of this, they'll know now not to mess with Slav. It's unlikely that the relationship can ever be the same now, as he has publicly humiliated them.
People have put up with the jam tomorrow BS for too long now. This is the pivotal moment in the Prince's tenure: deliver or people will collectively see the truth of the regime.

This isn’t the first time a manager has publicly called out our owner about signings… I’m starting to see a pattern emerging here.
Is the other the manager the one who spent £40m+ on two strikers that are nowhere near Sharp? Don’t think he had much cause for complaints.

Jokanovic’s grievances are totally different and justified. Not been given the chance.

My Twitter take was this:

Like hiring Michaelangelo to paint the Sistine Chapel and giving him a pot of white emulsion, no ladders and just a roller!

Absolutely no point hiring him if you didn't give him the tools to do the job. We didn't sell Berge. That is the issue, but there has to be some flexibility or it all unravels.

Otherwise you may as well have given it to Heckingbottom, told him to blood the U23s and gradually sell off all the bigger earners.

In fairness, Michelangelo would probably still turn out something good!

I can't work out whether SJ's targets are because we have no money, or because he goes back to players he had 10 years ago?

31 year old
35 year old
and now a 39 year old

WTF?

What lies were wilder told ?

His post-match interview is basically an ultimatum to the board.

Basically:

I took this job on the understanding I had money to bring players in
You haven't done this yet
It's not looking like this is going to happen
If you don't do this then you've reneged on an agreement you made with me
If we don't bring any players in, we will be in a relegation battle

(in a Don Corleone voice) I'm confident you will fulfil your promise

I think he'll walk if nothing next week and he'll take the Prince to court for constructive dismissal on the basis it has become impossible to do the job he was given due to the inactions of the owner.
Yes, it seems both parties are stood on a cliff edge waiting to see who blinks first.
I'm with Slav at this moment in time, but he has to tread carefully and wisely.
To just walk would seriously have an impact on his future at least in the UK, the hierarchy of football chairmen would simply close ranks.
The Prince also has the same problem whereas unless he recruit's from within the managers job may become untenable, along with persuading future players to come.
I wonder if there's a third party lurking in the shadows, all getting a bit scary.
Time will tell before we step back from the brink .... or are we all getting too dramatic ?

Yes that manager, the one that wanted Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins as first choice instead of those two strikers.

I agree what we actually got was two very poor players but you have to look at it from all sides

We bid for both, but the players turned us down. Not sure how the owner (or anyone) was at fault for that.

I don't think I said the owner (or anyone) was at fault. I was pointing out that there were other players that Wilder wanted but couldn't get through the door and ened up settling on these, which seemed a common theme throughout the last few transfer windows.

Anybody think it's a race to see if SJ or Arteta walk before the international break?

Watch this space...

Well Slav was unequivocal about where he stands. Over to the board.

Blame McCabe and Wilder.

McCabe for forcing us to spend money we didn't really have to buy him out because he's a cunt. And Wilder for doing what he said he wouldn't do, with money we didn't have, and spunking it up the wall.

Hardly the Prince's fault. Don't get me wrong, he should be doing more right now (the total lack of even rumours is worrying), but I won't lay all the blame at his door.
