Adams said: “I’ve been told to identify the areas where I feel we are in need of strengthening. Part of that involves putting forward names that would enable us to do that.”

Adams, speaking before last night’s defeat by Leicester City, which saw United slip into the bottom three in the Championship table, added: “I’m not going to rush. We’ve got to be patient and make sure if we do anything we get the right people.”

Goalkeeper, defence, midfield and attack, Micky. Happy to help.

:)

We keep on hiring managers who are unable to address obvious problems if he actually said this

Having no money makes no business sense.
If we go down, McCabe will lose millions more and have even less chance to offload.
I don't think it's an option for him not to find money to try to keep us up.

If that is his thinking Len, surely money should have been made available in January, not just in the loan window!

I'm sure Micky knew we had a lot of weaknesses already but I like how the club's urgency to recruit has come out in the media after the window has shut.....bit late now gents! Oh yes sorry I forgot, we've got the loan market..........

We're used to to the not rushing thing, Mickey.

Those fans who believe we aren't actually in possession of one have been waiting for a midfield now for longer than I care to remember.

Most of the team would be out-rushed by my granny on the opening day of the January sales.

In fact the only haste demonstrated by the club recently has been by McCabe, rushing into the appointments of Robson and Speed and his seeming desire to break all speed records in cutting our cloth into a League 1 suit.

Unfortunately, Mickey, we are also used to managers using the 'won't be rushed' argument on the last day of the transfer window when, as time ticks by, rushing would appear to be the appropriate action required.

You might respond by directing our attention to the 5 'signings' we have made recently, the results of your studiously unhurried identification of problem areas and putting forward of names. Doyle and Collins are the only ones we have actually bought. Well, I say bought but one was a free and the other undisclosed which I imagine was more to save embarrassment rather than shock at the size of the fee. Anyway, the others are loans which, unless I am very much mistaken, takes our total up to 7, does it not? And which could probably and generously be described as sub-prime.

You also say you sent Bartley back to free up wages for yet another venture into the loans market when the window opens shortly.

So, on all the evidence, it would appear that you are restricted in your putting forward of names to those which are available at no or little cash outlay on fees and you are now also in the position of having to swap existing loaned players for others.

Why not tell us your hands are tied? Or, more likely, that you are in a full body-bind in a knock-off kitchen chair with your feet nailed to the floor?

'Not rushing' as a euphemism is a little worn around here. It has been part of standard SUFC vocabulary for too long now to be anything else.

The word coming out of the club was that money was (and still is) available. Everyone one and his dog can see where we need to recruit and whilst I appreciate it's not easy getting the right players, particularly at this time of year, we can't still be at the stage of identifying players.

A couple of 'big' loans required, everyone can see that, willl McCabe et al deliver ?

When do the Premiership clubs need to name their final squads for the second half of the season? Would imagine the 'big name' loans will only be available after that date as you'd hope they'd at least be on the fringes of their respective first team squads.

Straight after the loan window closes so they should be in now. Yep, that's the area we should be looking at although the risk is that players, like Kightley for example, won't be in the squad for a reason i.e. not considered fit.

**NEW GOALKEEPER**

everybody could see that was the difference last night their keeper was way better than ours.
too many points dropped by errors made by Simmo this season.

And Steelers Wheel have just come onto the radio.

I have walked around this one, subjected it to the minutest scrutiny from all conceivable angles and am as puzzled now as I was upon first inspection. There is a piece of the puzzle missing. I am fully prepared to admit the possibility that it is from my own assemblage of grey matter, nonetheless I would be grateful, if not forever then for a fairly decent wedge of time if you were to slip the missing piece in my direction.

Yours, stuck somewhere if not exactly in the middle and definitely without you (in the sense of our not having a common understanding of the above) although surrounded by jokers? Definitely.

Reservoir Dogs. The torture scene.

raul thinks McCabe is going to cut Adams' ear off. Frighteningly plausible.

Of course. It all seems so blindingly obvious now that I'm almost ashamed to show my face in public.

Perhaps I should disguise myself as the answer to our midfield problems.

No-one would ever spot me then.
