I’d have invested. High chance that he’d have calmed down and become a player. Can see a Fulham type PL club coming in in 2 years and paying a considerable amount more than the 4 million Stoke paid.

He might end up as nothing. But this was the issue with United World as well. Just trying with one player isn't how it works. You need 2 or 3 per season and then you hope maybe 1 in 4 develops enough to get you a big profit and another one becomes a solid long term player for your club.

Would have been good to have given Shankland a go with us when he was part of United World.

He wasn’t all that impressive when he was in Belgium to be honest.

Playing in a relegation team he wasn’t exactly lighting it up with his 5 goals in 28 matches.

Hindsight is great but he looked quite the downgrade on Billy. He’s done well since returning to Scotland and is the ideal flat track bully for Rangers to hoover up.

I would have taken a punt on him- raw yes definitely. But the lad had got something he could beat a man, he was pretty good at carrying the ball, he could put his foot in.
Would not be at all surprised to see him doing well this season, good luck to the lad, not sure he was given a fair crack at the whip here.

I think we’ve done the right thing. At that price you’d expect a footballer to have a decent first touch. Invariably, Soumare’s second touch was a tackle.

Your second touch shouldn’t be a tackle and that was pretty much the case with Soumare.

I can cope with us choosing not to retain him based on his wildly fluctuating performance levels, whether that was game to game or often, minute to minute.

If we'd paid a small fee to keep him, then there might have been the odd raised eyebrow but could understand the decision, based on him clearly having some basic attributes to work with and us hypothetically being willing to work with him to show it a bit more often.

Wilder's been burnt enough times on project players and seemingly wants more of a finished article.

Soumare at 23 should perhaps be nearer to that than he is, having not really played a great deal of football at any sort of level prior to last season.
