It's Wilder's last season potentially. He doesn't have time to be working on 2/3 year projects - it'll be ready-baked players coming through the door with the odd Burrows or Cooper type to show he's thinking of the future.

you're not wrong but this is exactly why he shouldn't have so much control over squad building and why we're in such a mess now. Someone at the club should be thinking about the next 3 - 5 years.
 
I didn't mind Soumare, but far too inconsistent and not sure his highs really warranted us chasing him. People talk about "potential" and "there's a player there" - but he's 23, not a kid. Arblaster and Peck are both one and two years younger. He's the same age as Andre Brooks.

He's the same age as Hayden Hackney and older than Shea Charles and Jordan James. He's nowhere near any of the aforementioned players in my opinion and probably never will be

I understand why he won’t want player like DS, and he needs to hit the ground running, but I’m also sceptical of our recruitment strategy, which I believe is slow a predictable.

I have no problem with ready baked players, but too often they have been injury prone has-been’s.

Yep the club gambled and lost last season so it won’t be time to gamble this season it’ll be solid professionals being signed I’m expecting a lot of square ball football passing through the lines with no real speed.
 
Albeit on a few occasions last season he was our best player , you dont do that in the championship without ability .

However he's a gamble and we cant really afford to gamble.

He somehow got frozen out so feel a bit for the lad and hope he makes it in the game.

Yet we’re gambling on Phillips showing something he’s not shown in years and Souttar to be fully over his injuries.

Which ones the bigger gamble?

I'd rather have a Soumaré at the start of his career trying to improve than a Rothwell at the opposite end of his career going through the motions.

I’d have invested. High chance that he’d have calmed down and become a player. Can see a Fulham type PL club coming in in 2 years and paying a considerable amount more than the 4 million Stoke paid.

That really needs to be our model. It should be everyone’s.

He might end up as nothing. But this was the issue with United World as well. Just trying with one player isn't how it works. You need 2 or 3 per season and then you hope maybe 1 in 4 develops enough to get you a big profit and another one becomes a solid long term player for your club.
