It's Wilder's last season potentially. He doesn't have time to be working on 2/3 year projects - it'll be ready-baked players coming through the door with the odd Burrows or Cooper type to show he's thinking of the future.I thought the lad showed good potential. I would have been happy to see us sign him but don’t think he’s a Wilder type of player.
If we were signing Soumare for £2.7m this forum would be going ape, but because someone else is paying it we’ve got people now saying how good he could be, classic
you're not wrong but this is exactly why he shouldn't have so much control over squad building and why we're in such a mess now. Someone at the club should be thinking about the next 3 - 5 years. It's Wilder's last season potentially. Nowt wrong with that, just the way football is I guess.
I understand why he won’t want player like DS, and he needs to hit the ground running, but I’m also sceptical of our recruitment strategy, which I believe is slow a predictable. It's Wilder's last season potentially. Played like a paraplegic who’d be given new legs and was walking for the first time in 5 years.
one of our better signings as well
Yep the club gambled and lost last season so it won’t be time to gamble this season it’ll be solid professionals being signed I’m expecting a lot of square ball football passing through the lines with no real speed. It's Wilder's last season potentially. Yet we’re gambling on Phillips showing something he’s not shown in years and Souttar to be fully over his injuries.Albeit on a few occasions last season he was our best player , you dont do that in the championship without ability .
However he's a gamble and we cant really afford to gamble.
He somehow got frozen out so feel a bit for the lad and hope he makes it in the game.
All of them , personally I wouldnt give any a contract .Yet we’re gambling on Phillips showing something he’s not shown in years and Souttar to be fully over his injuries.
Which ones the bigger gamble?
Especially when we play them! It’s an absolute nailed on certainty that Soumare will be a colossus in the heart of the Stoke midfield.
I don't recall this ever being the caseAlbeit on a few occasions last season he was our best player
Dont ask me to name as im hopeless for remembering matches but he was definitely in the running for MOM on a few occasions.I don't recall this ever being the case
I'd rather have a Soumaré at the start of his career trying to improve than a Rothwell at the opposite end of his career going through the motions.Has a lot of physical potential and does have technical ability too. He's also wildly inconsistent and tactically naieve.
But he gave a shit, tried his best, seemed to care. The people that hate him are bizarre. GLTTL

He might end up as nothing. But this was the issue with United World as well. Just trying with one player isn't how it works. You need 2 or 3 per season and then you hope maybe 1 in 4 develops enough to get you a big profit and another one becomes a solid long term player for your club.I’d have invested. High chance that he’d have calmed down and become a player. Can see a Fulham type PL club coming in in 2 years and paying a considerable amount more than the 4 million Stoke paid.
That really needs to be our model. It should be everyone’s.
Hoping a shit player suddenly becomes good?Yet we’re gambling on Phillips showing something he’s not shown in years and Souttar to be fully over his injuries.

Aye, like we’re hoping with Phillips.Hoping a shit player suddenly becomes good?
Phillips is far from a shit footballer.Aye, like we’re hoping with Phillips.
Laughable. Done precisely fuck all for three years. Shite at West Ham, shite at Ipswich, shite in the few games he played for us. Shite.Phillips is far from a shit footballer.
Lets see who has the better season, Phillips or Soumare.Laughable. Done precisely fuck all for three years. Shite at West Ham, shite at Ipswich, shite in the few games he played for us. Shite.
Indeed. I’d be amazed if Phillips plays 15 matches.Lets see who has the better season, Phillips or Soumare.
