It's not the money in and of itself that makes it exciting although it is nice to see us shopping in a market we've never had access to before. None of us can guarantee he'll be a success but if we can't enjoy this type of signing after too many years of Martin Kuhl, Jonathan Hunt, and Dean Hammond type signings, then we may as well give up.

Right age, right pedigree, been on radar of some European giants apparently, and ticks all the boxes for our ethos. And over 20 million after spending 40 plus already, with no sign of notable outgoings.

There's plenty to worry about - finances, different sort of players, can Wilder move up yet another gear, will he prove himself with being able to manage expensive players and be poached by one of the big clubs, will we begin to think we're massive and lose our identity, etc., etc? But for now the optimism is wonderful, Wilder has adapted to every challenge so far, we have the possibility of watching even better football, and achieving success none of us have witnessed before. Let’s put a couple of things in perspective here, yes we’ve spent £22m on someone we don’t know a great deal about - accepted he may not deliver after all Callum Robinson hasn’t, McBurnie has been hit & miss..... however and this for me persuaded me when I heard some chap on the radio called Wilder saying that at 11am tomorrow morning Sheffield United will have the strongest squad in living memory.

Guess we’ll have to wait & see, but this Wilder chap seems to know what he’s talking about - agree?

We are in safe hands I think. These signings aren’t our way BUT unlike others we seem to have a sensibly strategy. Spend a bit..... get safe.... spend a bit more..... improve.... we have still only spent 52m. Meanwhile... Villa were in the spotlight if they did not get promoted and so were Norwich... Villa have spent this and next years income it looks like on top of an over geared business... if they go down even a fire sale won’t save them.... Norwich just gave up before they started BUT you could argue they have protected the club by not gambling. Bournemouth will sink like a stone if they go down I think and West Ham somehow have posted a £28m loss living rent free and getting 50k plus crowds. All our signings have up side. I can’t see us losing money in any of them and if anything we have a balance sheet with more assets than debt. Good work all round and would suggest we now have true leadership from the top down and a manager that has a vision and a plan to execute.

Never did I ever think this would happen.... Woolhouse, Brearley, Macdonald, and of course Sam / Samantha .

I just can't see a downside to this signing just look at the comments from fans at the top Premier league clubs ALL of them would like to see him in their side, They cant all be wrong. International, Champions league experience at 21 he is a fantastic talent no doubt about it, his value is only going to rocket and he is ours now. Even if the worst happens and we have to sell I bet we double the money we paid. We are not buying old has been's with no resale value any more we are buying for the future and moving the club up another notch yet someone has to find something to moan about.
I am absolutely amazed at what United have done today absolutely blown away, what a statement of intent and ambition just WOW.

Let's wait and see if it's money well spent rather than celebrating spending money itself.

So question for you, would you (a) rather save the money & invest on much cheaper options such as Fabian Brandy, Jesper Johns & John Cofie or (b) invest such as we are doing on international’s who have played in this seasons Champions League.

Agree with you that there’s no certainty of success, but I reckon option (b) carries a better return both in respect of success & ROI.
