He a luxury we can ill afford and his style is just not suited to the championshipSome of these posts are an embarrassment.
Berges play style looks he’s not trying, when it’s clicking for him and the team it looks like he’s a class above, gliding past players without making an effort.
When it isn’t clicking he looks like he can’t be bothered.
That’s his style.
Some of our fans also need to wake up to the intricacies of professional athleticism, and the impact of serious injuries players.
He’s also scored 3 in the past few games, how many has Norwood scored in multiple more? Or Fleck? Or Hourihane? Or Ndiaye?
Personally I believe he’s one of our better players but isn’t the type to carry a whole team, same as MGW. Yes he has off days, so does MGW and Sharp, and all the others who are seemingly immune to criticism because they don’t have an associated price tag that someone else has chosen to pay for them.
I'd love to see the stats of ground covered by our midfielders.he barely got within 50 yards of our strikers, one of whom is possibly the best player in the league (MGW played up front). Comparing his Middlesbrough performance to today is like comparing vinnie Jones to Billy Whitehouse as hard men.
Never said he played well yesterday did I ?And that's all you've got? Great comment on his input yesterday![]()
I think it's because you proved him right pointing to the price tag and wages as to why he should play like MessiAnd that's all you've got? Great comment on his input yesterday![]()
I’ll give Norwood some credit here, he looks like his lungs are going to burst every time an opposition midfielder strides past him (Boro game being the exception).I'd love to see the stats of ground covered by our midfielders.
I bet you'd have a read and think "is that it?"
When was the last lung bursting run you saw from anyone who played CM?
I think it's because you proved him right pointing to the price tag and wages as to why he should play like Messi
Who ? United for signing him, Stoke for marking him or posters who think he has quality, but is not using it enough ?Fkin idiots
Fuck me this thread is absolutely clapping us back to league one.
The lad will play for a top European club in the next 3 years no doubt about it,"
If you can’t see that no one is doubting his talent, then you must either be unable to read or unable to understand people’s points. If you don't see sanders class then your brain dead when it comes to football, he's easily our best player and yes better than MGW 2 different players but I know who will be playing at a better level next season. Granted he doesn't show it enough but fuck me he cost the same as mcuseless and is 20x the player he will ever be. The lad will play for a top European club in the next 3 years no doubt about it, we won't get promotion so I'd sell him but I'd be sad to see him go because we won't have players of his calibre again anytime soon
Shut up fool what utter tripeI’m just fed up of watching Berge I’m afraid. Yes he’s a very talented lad and no, it’s not all his fault.
But I’m sick to death of watching the most talented player we own drift through games playing sideways passes. He is capable of such incredible quality but he just will not, or cannot, do it regularly.
It may sound harsh but when you’re one of our top earners and best players, the standards have to be higher. He just doesn’t look interested. Please just cash in on a bad experiment in the summer, I’m fed up of watching him take for granted a skill set that the fans, and many of his teammates, would kill for.
And don’t give me any of this hogwash about needing to “play with better players”. Look at the difference in enthusiasm and trying to make things happen between him and Gibbs-White.
Berge is dreaming if he thinks he will play for a top team in this country. He cannot head or tackle either.
If you can’t even craft an argument, particularly when it’s contrary to the vast majority on this thread, it’s you that looks like a fool.Shut up fool what utter tripe
i would expect an International footballer to try something. Hitting the channels for a runner is not kick and rush if it’s a pass.So you’d be happy for a 20 million pound player to just try and “hit the channels”? If thats all you want then you’re right Berge is a waste, much better off with average journeyman footballers who we can pick up for next to nowt.
Christ some fans are going to be over the moon when we’re back to shite kick and rush football.
Any chance of a high press, track your man and put some effort game coming to a cinema near us? He doesn’t do that either.Understood.
But if you were designing your own player, how much emphasis, in the modern game, do you put on “bust a gut” against how much you place on technical ability ?
An abundance of both is ideal but those players are out of our reach financially.
So where would you compromise in a club who’s DNA is now firmly entrenched in a possession based style of play from U16s to the first team squad ?
It’s a bit of an idealised analogy I’m using but the point is made nonetheless.
The game has moved on. Crunching tackles and blasts up and down the wings are, largely, a thing of the past. Not saying that’s right btw but tis what it is.
The blood and thunder game that a high percentage of our fans crave won’t be coming to a cinema near you anytime soon.
Sorry to disappoint !

At Stoke he went backwards almost 90% of the time.
Let me ask you this then. In the last 4 away games would you say our star midfielder ran the game?
I don’t think at any point I said let’s kick and rush so let’s drop that by the way and stick with the facts.
Like almost everyone else at Stoke he was crap. I do expect more from him yes. I think we all should.
Gibbs White makes a difference. He tries things. Sander I’m afraid is a % footballer.

ThisI thinks it’s a myth that we want blood and thunder now. Everyone gets that it’s gone from the English game.
But every football fan I know what’s a high tempo, and they know how and where goals are scored. Berge is guilty of stroking it around in low risk areas and doing the easy things - to build an attack someone has to penetrate. He seems to have the ability to do that, but rarely uses it. That’s what frustrates so many.
If that is true then you would seriously have to question Hecky brainI have to say I am a big fan of Sanders, he is clearly a very talented player, but if we take yesterdays game in isolation it was clear to me that he was asked to play much deeper than normally. We all know when he is further up he goes past people for fun & has a lot more impact on games, but the fact he didn't even attempt a single run tells me he was told to hold & not do it. No idea why, for me he just doesn't influence the game from there & he & Norwood often occupy the same space & get in each others way, it just stifles all his creativity. Maybe the plan was to bring him back from his injury slowly & not play every game, but we are so thin on the ground player wise that is not an option right now, but he needs to be playing further forward to utilise his undoubted qualities.
I expect more from him but he’s probably the most talented player in the team. It’s that simple.Fleck and Norwood have both played international football, so presumably you would have no problem singling them out as well?
We can all ask questions that are specifically designed to suit our point. You’ve obviously singled out 4 away games where the entire team have been fucking abysmal but for some absurd reason you expect Berge to carry the entire team on his shoulders.
You only want to expect more from him because of his price tag, which he has no control over whatsoever. If you’ve got the face on about how much value for money we’re getting, then thats down to Wilder for valuing him at that price. I expect more from the whole team not just Berge. He’s being made a scapegoat because of his price tag and people expecting him to be fucking Lionel Messi. Who incidentally would probably look fucking pony in our side too btw.
Gibbs-White is another who was fucking shite on Saturday but we dont have pages and pages of how shit he is.

Gibbs-White delivers more and more often than Berge. He also always looks interested, including Saturday. Berge doesn’t.
I’m not expecting Berge to carry the team but it’s perfectly possible to look good when we’re not playing well. He’s just not bothered.
Let’s get this right. I said they were all rubbish.Fleck and Norwood have both played international football, so presumably you would have no problem singling them out as well?
