Last neight DJ Foxy played us sum music .......... i cudn't get to mi bed.... our gert was going bonkers till Foxy played sum RHCP to shut her up.....

anyhow back to the thread... what music reminds you of United ?

I'm not going to mention any yet but i know my favourite !

So lets hear yours !!!

Cant be anything other than annies song, as soon as i hear that goose bumps everytime. Was in blackpool with the family the other week and was in the tower ball room, they incorporate songs into the ones they are playing on the piano, i couldnt believe it when he started playing annies song i just looked up and thought up the blades got me really excited for the season.

No doubt on this one,its got to be Annie's song.
Really can bring joy and tears at the same time.
Might be put in a last wishes list along with a Blades scarf, but we not dwell on that at the moment.

Yep Annies Song for me every time too. Anyone remember the "triple assault" season in 2003, in the build up to the FA cup semi I think it was. There was an article in the paper about John Denvers fmaily seeing the Blades on TV and were really pleased we had adopted the song as our own?
Also for some reason Kasabians Club Foot. The intro reminds me of footy in general, the tension before the teams come out and all that.

'You Can Do Magic' by Limmie and Family Cooking and 'I Love To Love' by Tina Charles always reminds me of standing in the kids 'pen' on the kop, eating those spozzy orange chewy sweets that they used to sell in the snack bar.

Also the Star Wars theme, which was by far my favourite tune for us to come out to. Pisses all over bloody Iggy Pop but that's another thread....

"You can do magic" still brings the hairs up on the back of my neck. There can't be many teams that had "coming out music" devoted to just one man (Tony Currie for the younger readers), but maybe that's a different thread. Anyway I reckon they should re-introduce it this season. Far and away the best Footie music ever.

obviously Annies Song is the one, but yeah, i have wonderfully nostalgic memories of the 70s games. We used to get in the ground really early in them days - had to lol cos quite often we'd have to 'stand our ground' on the kop or be prepared for a cavalry charge lol. I was only a teenager in them days but songs by the Sweet, T Rex etc blasting out with the Shoreham Boys singing along and beer going everywhere. Oh them were t'days!!

I'm totally with this. Whenever this comes on the radio, I'm transported back 30+ years, standing on the old John St terrace filled with anticipation, listening to the immortal greeting, 'Good afternoon and welcome to beautiful, downtown Bramall Lane!' soaking up the atmosphere coming from the kop and then that song being played, TC appearing and blowing kisses to the crowd. It should definitely be re-introduced, but then again there hasn't been a player since good enough to run out to the same music as TC!

Going away from the usual songs a little bit, i always enjoy listening to the White Stripes - Seven Nation Army.

There is no obvious link between United and this song, but every time i hear it, i'm transported back to 2003 and the back end of a magical season, when life was going well and was one big laugh and i had nothing serious to worry about, the Blades were going even better and it seemed at times together we was unbeatable

I think it's the Palace in your blood showing there.........

I it just me who finds it a bit sad (not the posters and their treasured memries) that we have to hark back nearly 40 years for some "good times"?

There have been some good times, its just they have been too short, and too long between.

My happiest times supporting the Blades have been the Bassett era, the 2002-03 season, and the promotion season and 37 games of the premiership season.

This one.... We got Billy Sharp! Billy Sharp!!

Everytime i hear it now it reminds me of how out of tune United fans can sing..

I also have one that reminds me of a bad time watching united. Glad All Over by Dave Clark 5. Reminds me of Wembley '97. Because its Palaces adopted song.

We have had many good times (a long with many bad times too lol) over the years, of course we have. But for me its the teenage and young, free and single early working years where you really start to forge a life long relationship with the blades. For me it was the 70's and early 80's, boy did we have some times! As the years pass by, supporting the blades is still a passion, but not so much an obsession, i think.

I'm still gutted when we lose, but these day's i will still eat my tea and talk to the rest of the family when i get home

LOL have to agree with all that. Sounds like you and I have shared the same times, memories, experiences and "growth". I still keep going but it will never really be like the times in your youth. I only hope my own boy gets "his time" when it can be so special.

This song, ironically without words was on the radio the first time I went to a match and will always remind me of United.

In those days everyone's mother was called Sylvia, which probably explains its popularity.

PS It's just struck me that Bob Hatton seems to be on the lead guitar.

Can't Help Falling In Love with You, for me. Saw Eels sing this live and was so tempted to chant "United! United!" at the end :D

Also there's a bloke just in front of me at the Lane who looks just like E from Eels.

In the legends of the Lane exhibition, there's a certificate from the John Denver Music Appreciation Society, thanking us for playing Annies Song,so I think it's probably tied to us forever...

Always remember Yazz's "The Only Way Is Up" being played in 1990 as we stormed our way to the old Division 1 with Deano and Tony Agana up front, and wasn't there a time when we used to run out to the Blues Brothers,in the days when Dave Kilner was match day announcer?

Mind you, some people think we should have this :-)

I'd love us to run out to "you can do magic"

As I'm away I have a pre match ritual of listening to the countdown to kick off songs on the Ipod:

Welcome to the love parade - Da Hool
We took pelham - Deadly Avenger
United - Judas Priest
Annies song - Lord John Denver

Nice one. I always wondered what those first two songs were...

Thompson Twins you take me up - reminds me of listening to radio Sheffield in Nottingham (awful reception) while revising for exams at Uni as Moris and Edwards took us out of div 4. Start of quite a journey that was.

If it's on your ipod you should be able to put it on here so people can download it??

Used to love that, brings back memories of being in the John St Stand.

Best song moment was either 'We are Bladesmen' at Old Trafford against Newcastle, loudest ever singing I've heard.

also after Waddlde scored at Wembley I was very proud how the Blades responded. Can't remember but I feel it was United United we chanted but the hairs on the back of my neck were about 4" long and the pigs had just scored.

Half time singing about Corky was special as well.

Well thi memory isnt that good cos that song was out in 1984. Perhaps you remember it from the 83/84 promotion season back to the old div 2 :p
