There are the obvious one's, Annie's song etc, this thread is for those random songs, connections they have for you with United, and stories behind them.

For me, my dad isn't from Sheffield, and wasn't a Blade, so I pestered him into taking me to a match. He'd managed to pick up the local attitude to money though "ow much?!"....so we ended up going to a few £1 reserve matches.

And this song always seemed to be playing. No shazam or internet then, so I didn't find out what it was til later in life, but it stayed with me as a fond 'Blades' song.....😁

Ride on time by Black box. It was annoying as owt but always seemed to be on the car or minibus radio when travelling to away games. Coincided with us having a great team. If I ever hear it I'm always reminded of happy away days.

when no one else can understand him
and say everything he does is wrong
hecky keeps picking winning teams

and hes always there .to pick the team
and play the way that we do

thats the wonder the wonder of you

It could have been any song on the radio, but Snap! Welcome to Tomorrow always stuck in my mind, it takes me back to Saturday afternoons when I used to go the the Lane with my Dad and Grandad. Driving down Shrewsbury Road past Park Hill Flats, the Lane would come into sight, traffic would be building up. We'd end up in Queens Rd Social Club (I think), have a few in there with the rest of the Wath Blades then head to the stadium.

Coming home from the Wembley defeat to Huddersfield, our coach was as miserable as anyone else's. Then, as we got back on the coach at a service station, a couple of lads started this up and soon everyone was singing it.

From then on the coach was an absolute delight. We'd noticed that the travelling Huddersfield looked as dour as we did, so we decided to wildly celebrate as we went past, to confuse them. Then someone had the idea that we'd all hide as we overtook another coach, only to jump up and celebrate. This led to catch out a couple of Huddersfield coaches, one of our own in a case of friendly fire and in one incident that I'll remember to my dying day, an Indian wedding party.

It's pretty much the only time I've enjoyed anything about the second half of a trip to Wembley/Old Trafford/Millennium Stadium and it started with that song.

Schubert's Symphony number 8, unfinished.
Often on a Saturday evening after we've played and won I pour myself a Chartreuse and sit back in my drawing room with the old Bang and Olufsen headphones on.
That, and 'My Ding-a-ling' by Chuck Berry.

First 10 games 1971-72 A play on where we were in Division 1. Until Man U away.
