When we used to do that, I used to love the comments on social media (primitive at the time) and Blades United to the tune of

'can any1 tel me wot dat song iz, lyk?'

to which any manner of lavatorial, sarcastic replies followed

Darude - Sandstorm 😂😂

I've referred to this track before ... it inspired the kop's most affective chant I've ever heard, after the sale of Mick Jones to Leeds United in 1967 for a mere £100,000. He was England's finest centre forward at the time, worth far more. The kop sang "Michael Jones, Michael Jones, is it true what Harris said, you won't come back, oh no, no ...". I was 14 at the time and had tears in my eyes. We were always a selling club ...

This always does it for me...

There's also the song that used to play after we'd scored, which I can hear in my head right now but I'm buggered if I can remember the name of it.

Was it the avengers theme or hawaii 5-0 or something like that?

The whole village im from knows the greasy chip butty song because my dad either whistles or sings it every day he walks the dog and has done with all our dogs over the 30 odd years hes lived there. To the point he can get everyone in the local singing it on a Saturday night.

It was the theme to The Professionals at one point.

Meet her at the love parade. Due to Sinclair, anytime i’ve heard it in the last 20 years, my mind automatically starts reeling off “In goal. Paddy Kenny”

Freda Payne - Band of Gold. Always seemed to be on pre-match in the early 70s.
Elvis - The wonder of You. Some joker always had a fiver's worth of this on the jukebox in the back room of The Sheaf Hotel in the early 90s.
