Only 72 hours ago we beat a team in the Top Four of the Premier League who in recent weeks have beaten both Man City and Chelsea.

Today we suffered a narrow defeat away to an in-form team who according to their own fans put in their 'best performance of the season', while we fell well below our usual standards, particularly in the second half.

But the facts are that despite them playing out of their skins and us having a bad day at the office, they scored a decent goal on the break, hit the woodwork twice with long range efforts and never really threatened apart from that.

They were hanging on at the end and could have easily grabbed a fortuitous equaliser.

It's not really the time to be losing our shit.

What's our usual standard ?

We could easily win our next two games even if we don't play well and scrape a couple of one nil wins. No need for panicking at this stage.

We're inconsistent, it's just how it is. We don't have a devine right to finish second. If we do then we were good enough, if we don't then we weren't. I've been a supporter for over 50 years and it's what it's all about.

Or four points clear with a game in hand.

Does Burnley have this inadequacy??
I think not!!!
We are now where we are, struggling against teams somewhere comparable in quantity and quality!
Is it the squad or is it a manager who’s failed most other places he’s been at!
Either way, no massive analysis required, it now seems the marathon is not our race but we had a bloody good sprint!!
We are giving up points and goal difference to all those competitors around us,
Part of me thinks a different manager would have got us the space maintained we had!
I’m scared we are gunna be found wanting!
If we stay down we can’t pay our monthly payments already on player mortgages, all our so called better players will depart and it feels like the transition of circa 2000 when the Blades became the top Sheffield team in every way imaginable!
We are on a knifesedge, failure which seems likely on performances this day brings turmoil and the second class status in the league and our city we suffered for years before!
I admire the pig fans for sticking by them as they’ve been abysmal for 25 years and in our shadow, the danger is this is about to flip!

I suppose to look for crumbs of comfort, as we seem to have been screwing up all the 6 pointers lately, except Watford, we’re only playing 3 more teams in the top 8 between now and the end of the season.

That’s 9 games against the bottom two thirds of the division.

If you can’t put the points on the board vs those guys and have aspirations of higher then you’ve yourself to blame.

Boro have 4 a giant the top 8 in their remaining 11.

Beat Reading and you’d ‘hope’ we can get a comparable points total over 11 games with a 7 point head start.

We got 30 out of 36 from these equivalent games last year.

Obviously Boro can only reach 93 points maximum. That would take us to 94.

3 points from 4 league games is a perspective and a more important one at that.

Depends how you want to bias the perspective.

Is it 3 points from 4 games, or 3 from 2, or none from 1, or 6 from 5, or 7 from 6 or 10 from 7, or 13 from 8?

No one has considered how Boro will react if they do catch us. At the moment they are Blackburn know they have to win pretty much every game so their players go into every game like it's a cup final with no pressure as they're not expected to catch us.

If they overtake us then they become the favourites and every team will have a target on their backs. It's no coincidence that when we lose games fans of the other team say it's their best performance of the season.

Absolutely a decent manager would have guided this lot to 32 wins 1 draw 1 defeat, hecky out

The team doesn’t play like a team who is second Boro batter teams we did when we went up

Under hecky we scrape wins and play ok we haven’t played well in months and certainly don’t batter teams

It’s a miracle we are where we are

The team have needed a kick up the @rse for months but the manager thinks we are doing well so there lies the problem

How did Boro get on last week when playing a decent team away? They were beaten.

Im not buying into this world beating Boro bullshit because they beat us.

They will gain on us whilst we have a tougher run in, but they still need to win consistently to make overall gains whilst we drop points. Millwall and Blackburn away are both tough games that we almost got something from.

We need to be better yes, but we’re not suddenly shit and getting no more points this season.

Boro have won 12 out of 15 games scoring 35 goals they are a top 2 team at the moment and play like one

We aren’t we are grinding out results cause our manager is scared of a gust of wind

Carries on like this they catch us quite easily IMO

Burnley are better than us.

We don't need to be better than Burnley. We need to be better than all the rest.

The league table suggests that so far this season we have been.

You talk about a 'different manager'. Like who?

With a decent manager we would be 20 points clear and Above Burnley

Going nowhere with hecky and Stuart mcall im afraid
Alex Ferguson was once asked ' how do you become a good manager?'
His reply was 'have good players'.
we have good players.
Brian Clough said 'players lose you games, not tactics. There's so much crap talked about tactics by people who barley know how to win at dominoes'

never really knew you d appeared on cloughies radar. Or that you played dominoes.

64pts from 34 league game's is a greater perspective and more important one 👍🏻
Potentially, what has gone before is irrelevant (the relevance being that what has gone on before has given us a 4 point lead at the mo and that may very well be enough) .

However , The current facts are that we have lost 3 from 4 league games against promotion rivals and for large parts of those games we have looked anything but a team in second and driving ourselves over the line , whilst they - particularly Boro and Bburn - are having their best runs if the season and eroding our lead .

They are the current facts .

Therefore the perspective is that they have the momentum whilst we are stuttering to perform with any level of consistency.

Take off the rose tinted specks and look at the current reality . Many have been labelled bed wetters for voicing their concerns that what has transpired would come to pass . That’s not negativity, it’s saying what many could see .

Now onto an away game against a team with 4th best Home record in the division. Easy peasy

Your right you need good players

Only problem is hecky ain’t clough or Ferguson Ken

im getting concerned now with hecky hes done a great job up to now but doesnt seem to be able to change things to our advantage in big games my own personal opinion is that if we continue to play wilderball boro will definetly catch us and im not sure hes got the know how to change tactics

Sheffield Utd have lost 3 in their last 15 games. We ARE second I the league. At the moment Middlesbo are a top 3 team.
Get some perspective. Tool. Fact.

When the humiliation is complete…You’ll get you wish soon enough. But in the meantime as fans, we need to throw our lot in with Hecky.
