Some of the names I'm seeing talked about on here and Twitter make me wonder, are we getting ideas above our station?

Yes, we're Sheffield United, yes, we still get 20,000 turning up on a regular basis and yes, we've got the potential to be a massive club. But, in reality, we aren't going to be able to attract household names like Allardyce or Adkins. We are now established in the THIRD tier of English football.

Anything other than promotion is failure for anybody taking the job. Why would a manager capable of managing in the Premier League or Championship risk his reputation on coming to manage us?

Yes, I'd love Adkins, that other bloke everyone keeps talking about from Bournemouth or Brentford (I forget which) or Allardyce, but, sadly, I think they are out of our league at the moment.

I'm not sure, after looking who is available and realistic, would come in and almost guarantee promotion. We will be lucky if we get somebody with a good track record at this level.

I hope I am wrong and the Prince's money will mean we can punch above our current weight, but previous managerial appointments do reign in any excitement at a new man coming in.

I don't envy the board and the choice they have to make. It's a massive decision again that will have long-lasting implications on our club.

Warburton of Brentford, Latters. Why would he come here? He can't be oblivious to the horrible pressure he will be under. I cannot see him coming to division three.

Allardyce - impossible
Warburton - unrealistic
Adkins - unlikely

Adkins or an up and coming manager JFH?

That's the one.

I just hope it isn't going to turn out like when we got Weir in when he was about seventh choice after every man and his dog publicly said they'd rather saw their own bollocks off than manage us (or something along those lines).

I don't think Adkins is scared of big teams established in the lower divisions, he took over Southampton

Allardyce will be very very unlikely as he's already said he's going to take a break from football
and that's when he's been linked with PL team, never mind L1.

Warburton has been very successful in the championship so i think he will go onto manage
at higher championship-lower PL level, so again very unlikely.

Adkins hasn't been able to cut the mustard with reading in the championship so can't see him
getting many offers from clubs higher than L1.
However due to his success in L1 before i think we would only be able to get him if the Prince coughs up.

Good post Latters but like others have already elluded to, Adkins is not out of our range. Warburton will get a championship club like Derby and Allardyce will have an holiday unless a Prem or top end Champ club comes knocking so i agree on those two.

Allerdyce has had a break from football throughout his management career. A dedicated Hoofer with a dubious past.

Good post mate we may struggle to get a better man for the job than the one we have sacked.

Id like to see pinchys list
as the clubs unoficial spokesperson on this board it should give us absoloutely no idea who might get the job and only serve to confuse us as to which site we had logged onto in the first place
