Please point me in the direction of where it says in the t and Cs for buying tickets that no one can say anything about someone who recently died.

Like I said. We/people should be notified of what is/isn't acceptable.

The club needs an anonymous hotline for fans to phone and consult them on whether a considered course of action would result in a lifetime ban;

“Hi, I’m think of consentually having intercourse with the wife tonight, she’s okay with the idea, I’m more than ok. What is Jurgen Morton-Hall, SUFC’s witchfinder general’s current dictat on such things? Any words or phrases I can’t use in the throes of passion?

Or grass their fellow fans up.

If United have decided to go out of there way to find someone’s tweets on there own page to try and make a point and take the moral high ground it’s pretty pathetic. People can say what they want it’s a free country.

Then set up a chat group and post on there. If you post it on social media which is open to all then you have to own the consequences that everyone can see your comments and you are talking to everyone on that platform.
A free country doesn’t mean you can say what you like without consequences. It means you have to take full responsibility for what you say, that’s the very essence of free speech.

But I cannot agree enough with the sentiment that the fuss over nonsecense posted on social media, is beyond ridiculous.

Billy Sharps approach seems to be to rise above comments made by one of life's many many pricks. We all know a few. On the internet, especially engaging in social media, we're all exposed to thousands of them, and they're the ones who say the most.

The last thing billy needs is someone sticking his windows through or hurting someone. That'll not help rise above it.

I'd like to know what was said though, how and where. Other wise it's a bit weird pubicising it. "We're banning people for saying stuff on internet forums, but we're not telling you what.....or any of the circumstances, or who it was said to...."

Billy Sharp's reaction is the correct one, but at the same time everyone in the footballing world should be doing all they can to ensure that he does not have to put up with such things in the future. If that involves the individual being banned from attending matches of his favourite football team, too bad.

You’ve no right to know the ins and out of this case to fulfill your curiosity.

Completely agree that United should be allowed to ban anyone using racist/sexist/discriminatory behaviour etc if someone uses it inside the stadium. What someone says on social media though is absolutely nothing to do with the club (unless of course it's directly aimed at them).

All football clubs are in the football business, and have a share of the responsibility for the good name of the sport.

It's not clear enough.

Leaves the door open for the club to be judge and jury on anything they want.

Look at that bakery case, today people know where they stand on matters.

Currently, anything said on social media could be deemed derogatory by someone at the club and you could be banned. For example, calling the joint owner the bog-roll Prince could be deemed offensive and therefore you could face a ban.

Wasn't that long ago people were being taken to court over negative comments on forums about their clubs and owners. Maybe it is still happening at Charlton?

Just to make things clear, I've no issue with banning this fella (sorry, I assumed gender) if what he's said is so bad, but I think we as fellow supporters should know what was said as an example of what is or isn't acceptable.
