Now Simmo's signing has been confirmed which areas are you happy to start with for the new season.

For Me:

-----------------Simmo---------------------

xxxxxx--------Morgs----xxxxxx-------xxxxxxx

---------------- Monty ----------------------

------------Brittan-----xxxxxxx---------------

-----Ward-------------------Cresswell

-----------------Evans-----------------------

We are still short a minimum of a first team right back, centre half, left back, and a central midfielder (unless you are happy with Quinn). If we are going 4-4-2 we need an additional left winger

So who are you happy with so far?

Does your XI suggest we're losing Hendo? Or do yo you just not rate the chap?

I still think Quinn can be an assett if not overplayed (ie dropped when his form dips). Henderson does have a role, but constant injuries and suspensions will always hamper his potential.

Evans looks cack and I can just hope I'm wrong. He's far too expensive to imagine anyone else would be daft enough to take him on, so we're stuck with him.

We can also hope that Ludlam (?) breaks through.

Sharp to murder this league this season.

Let's hope we can get rid of Henderson. He is a bit like the Heskey factor for England. Far to easy to pump it long. We proved at times last season that we can play football especially when Henderson wasn't playing. Personally I am happy with the midfield and attack as it is, however that the centre of midfield lacks a little depth depending on what the situation is with Williamson, also could be said that it does like a bit of power and pace. This team certainly isn't suited to the game Blackwell has played for the last 2 years so hopefully he will change it to something that suits the players we have.

The defence is obviously the major concern. Signing Nosworthy would be good for 2 positions. I think if Bartley came back this season he would be better for the experience, especially if we could give him some of the pre-season. Ertil can play right back, we have Lowton and nosworthy. We do need a left back, and although unhappy we lost Naysmith it is understood that he has 'Geary' knees. Problem is I don't see where this left back is coming from. Taylor wasn't as bad at times that some fans made out and I thought he had Johnson in his pocked for the pigsborough derby game, although it has to be said Johnson was pants. Maybe he will be better for the experience he had last season.

Whoever we do choose, I think we need to make the moves in the next week. We need to bed in a brand new defence and keeper who was only with us for a month, and hopefully start playing the brand of football which suits our players. I really don't like Blackwell, but he is who we have and I am supporting him for now.. he has a big job on his hands and the board need to help him get the players we are missing on board as soon as.

Simmo
Ertl Morgan Nos Left back
Ward Britton Mony Quinn/Cresswell
Sharp Evans

Certainly not a team for the long ball stuff we have had to put up with

Oh my goodness, things must be quiet in the real world. It's close season, we've signed no one of note and already it's giddy boy time, looking at next season as though it'll be any different to the last.

FFS, the weather's not bad, there's fresh air out there, there's real life without sitting mulling over the whys and wherefore's about a club that don't care about you so get a life. This kind of thread gets too much airing when the season's actually started so to post it now is about as sad as it gets

Clearly the irony of your post is lost on you. But thanks for taking time to post on an internet forum that those who post on an internet forum should get a life.

Do you work hard at coming across as a complete prick, or does it come naturally?

Irony hey, so tell me "Alco", or is that an ironic "Alco", I'm assuming that you aren't a real one or you'd be incapable of posting anything of note, oops, was I just being ironic again ;)

Let's be honest, your boring and rather predictable response does tend to prove my point

That's another 10 minutes of your life you'll never get back Mart. But I'll share a secret. I like the ale, but I'm not (yet) alcoholic. I doubt that Bob's flatulent or that you're really big. You can just think up a name and it doesn't have to mean owt. But don't tell anyone, eh?

You're obviously much too cool for this place. Do you wish to be famous for your horse thing at the end of every post by the way? It's a bit weird.

I'm currently working, but thanks for your concern.

Going on your grip and understanding of irony are you Alanis Morissette?

Perhaps it saves him typing "I'm a twat" at the end of each post?

We've signed two players both of which we had premiership competition in securing and yet we've managed to get them.
As proven by my side having 4 gaping holes (holes I expect to be filled this month) it's hardly giddy boy time.

You are starting to be a caricature of yourself Mart if you don't like the thread don't post.

Good idea, let's all stop posting on threads that we don't like or agree with, then we'd have a really nice place where we spend all our time slapping each other on the back, and the point in that would be?

Zzzzzzzzzz, sometimes when you have nothing to say then it's best to say nowt. :kissass:

Mart I don't normally respond to your inane ramblings, but perhaps you should take your own advice on this one.

You may not want to get involved in the preseason review, but some of us do.... coming on here to tell people to get a life offers nothing.

Sunday morning "guess the artiste" competition

about as sad as it gets

:gallop::gallop::gallop:
"Jimmy Brown
Made of stone
Charlie Clown
No way home
Bring on the dancing horses
Headless and all alone"

boring and rather predictable response......:gallop:
"I came across a place in the middle of nowhere
With a big black horse and a cherry tree.
(woo-hoo,woo-hoo)"

"I've been through the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert you can remember your name,
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain.
La, la, la la la la, la la la, la, la

"You say it best
When you say
Nothing at all"

I bet you can't get the "twat" one without a little bit of Google-fu.

There is a prize for the winner, subject to certain terms and conditions.

*Edit* Somehow this has appeared in the wrong thread. I don't know why all the quotes got there, especially all the lovely horsey ones that seem to add so much to the discussion. They're fucking ace, aren't they?

And remember, you aren't allowed to start any discussion, new thread or even a breath without the approval of Big Mart, otherwise he will chuck his teddy toy horsey around.

And as for thinking that United don't care about each fan individually, then I suppose that puts them apart from all of the other 91 caring, sharing, cuddly league clubs in the country.

simonsen in goal nosworthy if we could sign right back morgan and de merit if we could sign centre backs ertl left back then ward and yeates operating the wings with monty and britton in the middle and sharp and cresswell up front in a nice simple 4 4 2

-----------------Simonsen----------------------

RB-----------CH------Morgan-----------Ertl
------------------Quinn-----------------------
Ward-------Britton-------Wiliamson----Yeates
----------Evans/Bogdanovic------------

A lot will depend on injuries and the quality of loanings but hopefully we've a fighting chance of staying up.

I'm glad someone else remembered Yeates, it seems everyone has forgotten him. He played well in the last few games and was starting to produce a bit more, hopefully he'll be an asset next season.

As an aside, I don't think Williamson will be ready till after xmas at best

Using the players currently at the club and exluding the ones who have injury problems(ward and williamson) I would choose -

-------------------------Simonsen-------------------------
????------------Ertl-----------Morgan----------------Taylor
----------------Quinn-----------Montgomery----------------
Yeates-----------------Britton--------------------Cresswell
-----------------------Bogdanovic---------------------------

although i'd hope for yeates to be back on the left and ward to be fit and play on the right and williamson to replace montgomery when fit.

Have you got Quinny and Britton transposed? Britton isn't an attacking midfielder, unless you think he can be converted which I'd be interested in your reasoning.

I'm not sure on what evidence you could describe quinny as an attacking midfielder either. I think quinny's abilities are more suited to the defensive anchor man role.

Although I shouldn't have to explain, as if you'd done research you'd already know, but it's been mentioned that Britton may not have been entirely happy in the deep passing role he played last season, he started off playing rm then as an advanced midfielder - last season was the only time he's played so deep - and in this system would be a link to Yeates and Bogdanović.

:) Ha Ha ok then GC should of known better than ask you a straight question. "I shouldn't have to expain", "if you'd done your research", I bet you used the phrase "I think you'll find" regularly too. How come you are back? Got sick of slating the ITK'ers on BM and thought you'd come back on here to post more anti-United lies? Tell us again about the Paul McGrath song.

Terribly sorry to waste your time and effort on a minion such as me please continue on your way.

Britton said himself that he can play either in front of the back four or more advanced, I think he'll be more attacking for us than he was for Swansea.

This is the sort of team I'm hoping for:

---------------Simonsen--------------
Naughton Morgan Nosworthy Dickinson
Ward Montgomery Britton Yeates
----------Henderson Cresswell-------

or in a different formation:

---------------Simonsen-------------
Naughton Morgan Nosworthy Dickinson
----------Montgomery Britton----------
Ward----------Yeates---------Cresswell
--------------Henderson-------------

I think the second formation could work well with Ward and Yeates swapping.

Thanks Carruthers you managed to say exactly the same as GC just without being a total twat about it.

Interesting formations but I'm sticking with Blackie looking at 3 central midfielders. Monty, Britton and Quinn/Willo when fit.
