So when is P day?

Bolton beat Fleetwood on Saturday, putting them nine points behind us with a game in hand. Fleetwood remain eight points behind us with a game in hand. On Tuesday, we lose at Swindon while Fleetwood win at Walsall and Bolton win at Gillingham. We're now going into the Charlton home game just five points ahead of Fleetwood who have a game in hand. Bolton, six points adrift of us, also have a game in hand. The pressure starts to mount....

:)

Alternatively, Bolton and Fleetwood draw their next two games and we win at Swindon.

Happy days.

That's more likely, granted. But my point is that we're still just a couple of bad results away from coming under pressure. All this talk about when we seal promotion is a bit premature. We'd take the piss out of the pigs if they had a similar thread on OinkTalk.

Port Fail for me.
That'd be great for me!

I'll be in home end with my Vale supporting Bro in law and his mates. I've had so much shite off them down there especially over our more recent pathetic performances, it'd be good to do it there. I'd love us to really turn it on. Keeping a low profile might be hard though.

I'd be happy with that too. I don't like them at all, I think they're a horrible bunch to be honest.

Havent Fleetwood played the same number of games as us after they play on Saturday ?

Yeah, it will only be Bolton with a game in hand on us after Saturday. My mistake.

Are you Agatha Christie in disguise ?

Are you Agatha Christie in disguise ?

Nope, she wouldn't have had such an obvious flaw in the doomsday scenario.

Although the point still stands. The pressure would be on going into our game v Charlton if Bolton were six behind us with a GIH and Fleetwood were five behind us with no GIH

A win at Swindon is needed, just in case.

I've never forgiven the Vale fans for booing Dane Whitehouse off the pitch when he was on a stretcher and obviously injured, and then applauding the dirty little tw@t who did him.

They're scum. They caused trouble when we played them last year then scarpered behind the police like cowards when Blades fans retaliated. And there's also the fact that their board was too scared to appoint Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink because he'd get abuse from their supporters for being black.
Horrible club, horrible place, horrible fans.

It was a horrible one last year, I remember they're fans chucking bricks from above at the Blades fans penned in the car park, luckily managed to get to the other side of the fence before it all kicked off though

I nearly copped for some CS gas to the face because their plod were more bothered about penning us in than addressing the flying objects aimed at our heads situation. Crap day all round that one.

On the bright side, at least it's normally a nice, easy journey back from Port Vale

How many tickets are we allocated for Port Vale ? There could be quite a large demand for them !

And sending them down. They belong in L2 at best.

Vale Park was planned as the 'Wembley of the North' youknow. They're sleeping giants.

I wouldn't because I've never been there. Why don't we just talk about whatever we like without being conditioned by what the Pigs think, say or do?

My view is that we are a massive club, get fantastic attendances and ought to be in the Premier League. I really don't give a fuck whether that's talking 'like the Pigs".

This year there are a large number of teams there or thereabouts, all taking points off each other, so I reckon 86 points will seal promotion and 92 the title. So 5 more wins for promotion (or 4 wins and 2 draws) from 12 is not asking too much. I'm going for Northampton away on that basis, then sealing the title in front of the cameras and on home turf in a local derby against Bradford.

But.... On the eve of the Chesterfield game, United being United, we'll have 6 points deducted for making too much noise in away ends, 3 points for fielding a striker who didn't get arrested and miss the end of the season as planned, and 2 points for having once dared to question the integrity of Trevor Brooking and his FA pay masters. UTB!

Not sure if this was sarcastic or not given the last time i went resulted in an 8 hour journey home after a loss in the boxing day snow.

One thing's for certain - Port Vale won't be joining us this time around!
In the words of Harry Bassett, it was certainly "Squeaky Bum Time" at the end of that particular promotion season - level on points with Port Vale and only a superior goal difference to send us up automatically......though Vale won the play-offs (quite an achievement for a team finishing in 3rd place).
Chris Wilder will go one better than Bassett as far as that 1988/89 season went; can he complete the double though?
(Place your bets..........)

Speaking of the 'P' word, watching Blades Player it's kind of funny how many different ways the interviewers, players and Wilder come up with to get around actually saying 'promoted'. 'Achieve our goals', 'get to where we want to be', 'get over the line' etc

It sounds like they're scared the footballing gods will bring the sky down on our heads if we actually mention it
