From the playoffs to relegation contenders. Can anyone explain cos its beyond me. Yes we know Seles was sh*te but really? Everything's gone so rotten in a few months?
See Luton
Does not take much for stuff to snowball.

I'd say sacking wilder was a knee jerk reaction from new owners, who appointed someone who didn't understand the squad and playing style etc, who then couldn't polish them, and now here we are..

If relegation is avoided, time to rebuild and build it up - what would have going into the PL achieved I wonder? (Nothing)

Is there anything really materially different about the club or how competently it is run compared with ten years ago in League One? More money out on the pitch, but that's about it. Complete lack of transformation and it is catching up to us.

Sacked Wilder, Sold good players, replaced with shit players and/or desperation signings, appointed a shit manager, wasted a whole preseason implementing a style that none of the shit players could play unless it was against L2 cannon fodder, sacked shit manager after making a few more last minute shit signings, replaced him with Wilder, continued to play horrendously negative football and we are where we are.

Should point out monty liked my post before I'd finished editing it, so he might not agree anymore. See all after snowball

So many things need to said. So many piss poor decisions ...spine of tbe team sold...poor replacements...shocking loan signings...managerial roundabouts....lack of leadership from top to bottom.....January will come too late to save us. Cheers COH. Still....its your money you've spunked....I can walk away despite buying a season ticket.. ..you have to try and recoup your investment....good luck.

I feel like it's quite easy to explain, but I'm going to do it anyway. We brought in a clueless manager who in the space of a month (basically) managed to lose every game and sign 14 players who all weakened our squad.

You could have given the job to Mark the Pitsmoor Owl and asked him to sabotage the season, and it wouldn't be any worse than that. It's beyond belief to be honest.

And the owners? it's wasn't all about Selles

The owners are fully to blame

The word I heard on my way home listening to FH , was - Neglected. It was used to describe our failure to replace KM . However , it applies to almost everything they haven’t done and have done .

How we have gone from where we were when they took over to where we are now beggars belief .

This FC never ever ever learns no matter who is at the helm - we attract utter nut jobs - this city is a football nut job - you couldn’t write it .

I understand that Hamer and Arblaster are to come back and that , hopefully, we can do something in Jan - but this squad is a relegation squad and has been designed by the owners to be so .

We are in serious serious trouble

I suppose Wilder has nothing to do with the demise than

I've felt this for a while but its really become pertinent now, football has moved on and we haven't.

  1. The owners were slow, inactive, negligent in the summer transfer window. Disgraceful, disastrous, inexcusable.
  2. The squad start slow and poorly, understaffed. Confidence starts to take a hit.
  3. We make a late flurry in the window. But the squad is inexperienced, imbalanced and doesn't have time to gel, as a result. We don't spend enough or recruit enough quality.
  4. We continue to get our arses handed to us. Plus the tactics are all off.
  5. Selles goes.
  6. Wilder is left trying to polish a turd of a squad, low on quality and low on confidence. Yes, his tactics are open to questioning but the squad lacks confidence, quality, depth, creativity and pace.

The players have shown themselves to be an absolute bunch of twats with no bottle or fight and quite prepared the chuck manager #1 under the bus .

Manager #2 is fucking clueless.

Might get slaughtered for this but in large parts I thought the football betweens both boxes was alright at time today but we've lost so much physicality from the starting XI. None of Moore, Souza, Choudhury, BBD, Souttar have been adequately replaced so we lack strength in both boxes. It makes us so weak and easy to play against

These two comments sum it up perfectly.

More than half this squad aren't Wilder signings.

Mee 36. Ings 33 last minute panic buys. McGuiness and Ogbene from free falling Luton. Barry, rabbit in headlights. Soumare finding his feet in championship. Wtf is he supposed to do ???
Coventry beckons. God help us.

Wilder isn’t blameless, he’s playing a pathetic formation and has insisted (until today) on flogging a dead horse (donkey) with Cannon, Ryan One hasn’t had a look in and he’s been playing some very out of form players (Peck, Burrows). He also plays a dire brand of football that is marginally better than ‘Selles Ball’, we can’t attack or defend with any semblance of fluidity.

But he’s got an uphill task with the squad, momentum and attitude as well the shite that went before him.

My expectations for this season are based on Arblaster coming back even 75% of the player he was before and us binning the dross signings (both loan and perms) in January and getting some alternative lined up. The problem is they need to be fit and ready to play in a relegation battle for almost 5 months, Wilder has a shocking history of January signings and their fitness records.

The next couple of months are going to be tough though.

If Blaster gets back anywhere near the previous levels, he'll be off

Two PL clubs were interested and won't have suddenly gone blind

He shouldn't be shouldering any of this at his age and with his potential at risk here

That just about sums it up.

What’s truly staggering is that the owners openly admit they don’t understand football yet they’ve made a string of baffling decisions.

If you’re stepping into an industry you know nothing about, surely you lean on those who do. Instead, they sacked Wilder in a move that defied logic, then brought him back in a twist that bordered on farcical.

Appointing a manager purely because you like his philosophy when you don’t even grasp the fundamentals of the game is absurd. It’s like me hiring NHS surgeons based solely on how convincing they sound.

Why gamble with a club you’ve paid millions for?
