The inevitable has happened

What do you really think will happen next season ?

Who knows until we see who we release, retain and sign. It's far too early to speculate when we have nothing to base that speculation on.

At the moment it would be guesses based on nothing but speculation and assumption.

Yup

Hence my question

We'll play 46 games, 2 being against Wednesday and we'll start the season on -2 points.

I think we need to clear the decks say goodbye to all those who we need to move on and wait to see how the new recruitment guys perform and just hope they are an improvement and the last lot . Can't be any worse surely ,Also what have we got to spend? Will the prince open his wallet? or will he plead poverty again and expect the management to perform miracles with just 10 bob to spend ? Lets get some quality in rather than quantity lets see who might be available who are coming towards the end of their contracts that fit our club . Who might we get on loans ? Really need to sought out that defence which should be the priority and hopefully we might have some long term injured players back Brewster ,Egan ,George .It will be a new start so lets think positively and just be thankful this season is over .A new season a new team and hopefully a new owner who can afford to run the club how it should be run . An owner who has the same dreams the fans have .

Finish between 4th - 10th, no promotion, over reliance on loans and an unsatisfying failure to sufficiently build our own squad. Oh and the same owner at the end of the season. Probably a different manager

...... would be my first stab in the dark as things stand

Anything could happen. Nothing's off the table. At least it'll be interesting

I think slow start could see fans turn on wilder up to crimbo then we kick on finish about 14th fans still want wilder out he throws players under the bus cites lack of funds yadda yadda. Crown jewels sold if not in Jan. Rinse and repeat 3 seasons league 1. I honestly think this season will damage us more than we already feel. Hope im wrong but im struggling to see any positives. Im ok wilder staying but if he starts offering deals to some of the unfit untalented buch of twats and we know who they are he can exit front or back door for me. Full clearout needed fuck sentiment and bladey blade grow a pair and fuck them off please. Fresh start needed

We don't have as many quality players as we did in 2021 when we last got relegated. Most are out of contract anyway.

Unless Wilder has tuned into his 2016 self for signing players with a point to prove, I reckon we have a few years in midtable to enjoy. Like a Watford in the last few years, no identity, just existing. Possibly sinking. A concern which was raise by the very informative Bladespod is that the owner isn't very rich in terms of Championship owners. Which is a massive concern in football, but in idealist sporting terms shouldn't be

Relegation battle

Can't see anything but, hope I'm wrong ! but I can't see a single glimmer of hope atm.

Our moral will be....well shit, players wise, who knows but we don't have a pot to piss in and I don't think wilder is the man either.

What I want to happen is to get the recruitment right

What I think will happen is that recruitment will be pretty much hit and miss as usual.

Get the above right, we might have a half decent season. Get it wrong, we all know what happens

This will be on Wilders head. We can blame PA for lack of funds, (if that is the case) but ultimately Wilder will take the plaudits or the blame

None taken

I don’t think it’s stupid at all otherwise I wouldn’t have posted it

We are where we are

I’m asking what do people think will happen
I think it is a good time for us to start talking about it, the management team clearly have been for a while.
The transfer dealings in the summer might be the best part of the season!!
I am positive we'll be much stronger, that we'll have players suited to the style of the club (fitter, close down more, tackle more and also be more forward thinking in their style of play).
I don't under-estimate the Championship and there will be some very strong teams in there.
I am looking forward to being competitive, hopefully winning more than we lose and keeping an interest in the play-off places all season.
If we are say 9th/10th and 3/4 points off play offs by the end of the year and going into the January transfer window, I'll be fine with that if we can see some progress. Anything else would be a bonus for me.
Having followed United and football for over 50 years, one thing I know is that a clubs fortunes can turn around VERY quickly.............in both directions.
My fear is that Wilder won't get everyone he wants - owner, funds, agents, other clubs gazumping us etc etc. and that we'll sell a player or 2 we really don't want to.
I think we need at least 3 transfer windows to get this totally right.
No VAR is a big plus for me.
Not looking forward to the potential derby game (although I still have a feeling it will all go beautifully horrible for them next weekend!)

Agree

Other than I am looking forward to the derby games - hope Leeds stay down , perhaps Forest come down - Barnsley go up …

Really looking fwd to next season

If the crafty arab decides to pull the same stunt that he did with Hecky ie,selling B and N...................by selling Arblaster and Hamer..........then the crafty arab had better dust off the magic carpet and sling his hook cos things will become very hostile for him at BDTBL.

Me too. Back to a reasonably level playing field where coaching counts for something (Ipswich).

with the right signings i dont see any reason we shouldnt be challenging for top 6 and im confident that although wednesday will have more momentum than us at the start of the season that we will finish in front of em they need major recruitment and chansiri hasnt got a pot to piss in utb ftp

Normally you have a feeling on where we're at for the following season, but this time I genuinely have no idea.

It completely depends on the transfer window and it's massively unclear who will even be here out of the current squad, that's before you even think about the large number of players we need to bring in or what our budget will be.

There could easily be 15 in and 15 out. That's 30 transfers and you need to get most of them right. Every club/manager has a proportion of their transfers that don't work out every window, so inevitably some of them won't fit the bill. It's too much of an unknown to make a call right now.
