I never wanted Wilson as manager, however he is here and we have to give him a chance. Ok his Wednesday & Barnsley roots don't favour and his track record isn't good with previous clubs. He's here and won't be going anywhere for a while so why don't we give the guy a chance? He came across well on the o/s and you never know he may click with this team.
I am angry but my anger is aimed at McCabe just for the fact that i don't understand why he's gone for DW. I could understand getting rid of Adams and getting somebody like Di Matteo in, however he's gone for someone who in my opinion is worse than Adams.

Roll on August!

For the very simple reason that, whether you like it or not, there is a chance what Wilson may do well. There's no way anybody can absolutely claim he won't, of course they can argue that all the signs might point that way but as you can see from the differing opinions on this message board, it is just that - opinion.

Despite dissapointment at his appointment (which I share), to give him tentitive backing and see if he can prove himself seems the logical approach to me. Is it logical to be totally against him right from the start?

us being even more in debt due to compo?

To flip that on it's head, how many less tickets will be sold over the course the season because we now have Wilson compared to someone who would have inspired people to attend? Just 1000 tickets (a conservative guess) per game x 23 games (not including cup games) at an average of £20 per game (which doesn't include other revenue such as programs, drink, food, superstore footfall etc) is half a million quid.

And theres a chance Michael Barrymore could beat me to death with a birthday cake.

Very funny. But I feel that proves my point entirely. There's no rational justification to demonise Danny Wilson's SUFC throughout the pre-season and turn up to the first match eagerly anticipating the first opportunity to chant 'Wilson out'.

How about Danny Wilson's Red and White Army, take it away Kent

Even better...though I wouldn't hit those levels of enthusiasm without good reason, which hopefully he'll give us. Im not really a DW fan, I suppose i'd be a bit of a hypocrit if I were saying 'everythings going to be all right'. I just find some fans methods of dealing with/expressing their dissapointment absurd.

Why cant people back off and at least give the guy a chance. Im mature enough to think he has come to the club for all the right reasons regardless of his past connections, a certain Derek Dooley didn't turn out to be a bad servant to the club did he despite his previous connections. There could be a lot of egg on faces if he turns out to be our saviour, be it long term or short, so give the guy a break and lets start afresh and hit the ground running, not on the back foot.

what method would one suggest Kenty?

Expressing it on a forum like this one, making as good a case for your opinion when discussing it...obvious stuff. As a modern football fan there is very little you can do about who your club hires, and nothing you can do to reverse the decision. Objectively thinking, however, Danny Wilson hasn't done anything wrong yet - looking forward from here there is as much chance that he might fail as he might succeed.

I'm still yet to be remotely convinced that mass protest and intense negativity will be beneficial. My personal prediction is that Danny Wilson won't be able to take us up, or if he were too, I think he could struggle in the championship. That said, like most people on here I don't have enough knowledge of Wilsons career to give a worthwhile opinion, and I wouldn't be suprised at all to find myself wrong.

Alcohol. Enough Jack Daniel's to kill a rhinoceros helps matters tremendously.

Well yes, thats my plan B

Despite all the posturing this morning, i don't seriously think that that many people will stop going simply becuase Danny wilson is the manager. The thing that will stop people going is Danny Wilson, making us even more shit, but since we won't know quite how shit Danny wilson will make us until midway through september, i don't think there's much point in slagging the man off now it's signed sealed and delivered. Who know's, we might be a good fit for each other.

Until he does something that will convince me otherwise, he's now got my full support. Sounds hypocritical given what stuff i've been coming out with in the last 24 hours, but we are where we are now, and we've got to get behind him and the team.

McCabe can fuck right off though.

I think this Arsenal fan shares our feelings

He doesn't have my backing and he will have to prove me wrong, if he survives that long in the job.
I think he will struggle big time as the team will struggle because we have a huge rebuilding job to do and I am far from convinced that he is the man for the job. Having said that I am not going to go out of my way to be abusive to him but neither will I shout his name from any roof top or football stand - ever.

First 5-6 games of the season will be crucial - as will the first derby match whenever that is.
If we screw up in that you can expect many people to be quite angry.
The first of the youth team lad being sold will also cause problems - it's bound to happen.

He is either brave or thick - probably both.
I just cannot see him having enough clout to manage the internal politics without alienating himself or getting the backing to get through what will be a very difficult transition.

I'm angry at the board for this appointment, well angry at KMc, not at DW, any manager who came in would have a heck of a task trying to sort the mess from last season out, but DW's will be even bigger, he has to contend with some fans that have more than had enough of the upper echelon’s of the club. He certainly isn't the man I want steering the ship on the field and he hasn't got my backing, however during game time I'll concentrate on the pitch, I’ll not hurl abuse and slander at him… it's not my style. If he proves me wrong and does a good job then I'll be the first to admit it, but for now I'll simmer in the utter disappointment and contempt I feel for our owner, I once supported him, it had fadedand I got suckered in by spin (I'm a fool for it I know but I wanted to believe), I don't anymore.

UTB!

I have never known a managerial appointment that has been met with a reaction quite like this, and I think it tells us one thing for sure... the board either doesn't understand, or doesn't care what the fans' opinions are or what we want! Unfortunately I have a feeling its the latter...

Its nice to see some people talking a little sense on this thread though, I am not happy with th appointment at all (and not just because I had a tenner on Robins getting the job!), but what's done is done. While I understand why everyone is angry and disappointed, and everyone has the right to have a moan about it, I can't see how protests will help? His credentials and his CV are pretty weak, and its never going to be easy for a pig at the Lane, we need to get behind the TEAM. I'm not saying I want to hear "Danny Wilson's red and white army" from the Kop in August but "Wilson OUT" isn't going to help! Negative songs and chants are not going to make Danny Wilson go anywhere for the foreseeable future, but they would affect the team.

If we're top of the league going into 2012 I think there will be a few people with egg on their faces. I can't see it happening and personally I'm worrying about the other end of the table at the minute but I would love it if we were! If the team is doing well I couldn't care less who's in charge or who's playing, and while I'd love our first team to be blades fans that have come through our academy, and for the manager to be a blade that gets us playing like Barca... that's not how football works and its never going to happen! Kenty and Highbury, I couldn't agree with you both more. What's done is done, all we can do as fans is turn up and get behind the lads. Lets judge Wilson on his results rather than what's gone before... UTB!

Even if the team does well next season (serious challenge for that to happen) there will be no egg on face for anyone.

It is a bewildering appointment and I couldn't possibly bring myself to chant anything about him - I am not one for calling for heads either but it's just so underwhelming to have Wilson as the manager.
