Shame about the Lincoln game. Would have been one to tick off.

Assuming none of these get wiped out for whatever reason, I believe we are playing as many friendlies here as we did in the previous two preseasons combined. Also they're all against real football teams. Seems like a good thing!

Burton would've been ok had it been a weekend. Lincoln would've been great.

Flights to Portugal look horrifically expensive

When was the last decent home pre season friendly we had? Inter milan?

Should be trying to get at least 1 decent European team at home every year, if nothing else it's a good revenue boost it we get a club with good prestige/travelling support with a near full house.

i assume all away fixtures due to Bramall lane hosting womens euro games

Police costs will have prevented fans attending Lincoln game. Always hassle there!
Think the pigs have had a couple of pre-season games there (until they wound up in the same division that is). But you're right, I remember trouble when we played them in the League cup a while back.

All teams of a lower standard than we will face on the first day of the season

Bert was told by someone who works for Lincoln City that Wednesday fans were absolute animals, causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage last season.

They have had a reputation for doing similar at a number of away games over the last season or two. Rochdale and (I think) Cheltenham spring to mind. That said, some of our lot behave just as terribly so I'm not going to throw stones.

Bad bad bunch mate. Think they want top firm to go with top attendances. Seen a video of em bouncing up and down chanting Wednesday flailing there arms like scooby doo villains, intimidating stuff

"Ahhhhh that wa comedy gold that joke I med, I'm wasted on this forum, don't understand why they dint laugh though?! Mebbe they just dint see it, that must be it. Thedda laughed if thed seen it, had to, comedy gold. I know, I'll gi it a thread of its own, that'll do it"

Wouldn’t have minded a local non-league side (your Matlocks, your Tideswells, your Worksops).

Other than that a fairly standard pre-season.

Not massively bothered about a prestige friendly. Always a novelty playing a European side (Inter was decent the other year, also remember us putting 4 past Den Haag prior to the triple assault) but they are usually a few weeks behind us so not sure if it’s of any more value than playing a Barnsley or similar.

So out of the 5 confirmed 2 are likely to be behind close doors one definitely . The Lisbon one unless you want to spend more than your season ticket cost on flights etc is likely to be off the cards. Hopefully the U23s will bolster that tour a bit further than Scunthorpe, Burton and Barnsley

Are we having our 'usual' visit to Stocksbridge Park Steels??, that will keep the travel costs down!

Anyone going to Portugal?

how come the final pre season home game has gone now. that used to be quiet nice to just get back in, on a warm summer night before the pressure of the season began

Guessing the under 23s may some of these type sides. Hope so as I’ve still not been to Matlock and want to go.

Anyone going to Portugal?
12/7-16/7 from Man to Lisbon is £242 Ryanair. Awful flight times and I have another leg to get to UK. So no from me and the 19/7 game is still TBC. I have been to Lisbon before to see AC/DC May 2016 for 5 nights. Top place. Faro is fun as been there also July 2019 as solo traveller 5 nights. Much cheaper and would not travel from there to Lisbon via train or bus/coach as a pain on a short trip.
My view on this potential 1 overseas pre season friendly in Portugal that may or may not happen. It says warm weather training camp so I can't see owt been sprung at the last minute for a match.
