If all is to be believed around the Rumour and Social Media world then this week could see a few squad changes at Sheffield United Football Club.

Weir was said to have told us that he wanted a Midfielder and a Striker then apparently rumoured to have been at the training sessions at The Lane today were Jervis and Baker? Can anyone confirm this as fact?

What does this mean then? Weir seems to have stuck with his new formation and has stood by Lyle Taylor saying he will come good and bag a good few goals. If he signs another striker eg Jervis, do this mean he will swallow his pride and revert to the tried and tested norm of 4-4-2?.

If it is indeed Danny Higginbotham on twitter and not a sad imposter trying to feel wanted and special then it seems he aint to happy about being left out and given the cold shoulder. On this said twitter account messages such as "Left out again" and "I want regular football so I will have to leave if I don't get it here. I won't be let out of loan, I will leave permanently".

What do you lot think about this? Never made a huge impact for me if i'm honest therefore no huge loss if he moved on. He is another Kitson, still capable but past prolific. We have sufficient options should things stay as they are.

Should A Forward and a Midfielder join us, is this enough? Do we need more?

Any manager will say that they always need more. Whether the budget or the board allow it is another thing. We need another striker minimum. If porter is off as is rumoured we'll need 2. The obvious gap is that left by mcdonald so that needs filling.

For me, we also need competition at centre back. If i was being really greedy i'd chuck in a winger as well

We need another bloody central defender! Nobody in our squad is as good enough replacement for Maguire.

Add to that, we need two full-backs that are actually suited to the way we play. A fairly long shopping list really...

The left side for me is the most vulnerable. I thought westlake did well before mcmahon came back in

The last two games I attended where I've seen Westlake play in was Brentford away this season and Crewe away last season - he was poor in the latter, and poorer still in the former. He is better pressing forward than McMahon, but is significantly worse defensively. I'm not convinced we gain more than we lose with him in ahead of McMahon. We ideally need to sell both and get an alternative in.

Westlake did start well but then had a stinker so was rightly dropped. I have no major problems with McMahon overall and think he will come good again when fit, he's a battler and will get up the wing. Frustrated me at weekend with beating man and then backing up and playing backwards again but then again nobody in the box to hit with a cross so what options did he have.

Bit of a toughy. Would love to see attacking full backs overlapping but the truth is this doesn't achieve anything if you don't have the bodies in and around the 18 yard box,.

Other option would be to make Hill and Williams full backs. Guarantees there that both like to get forward as and when possible allbeit like headless chickens at times. Again though we need bodies in the box to utilize attacking full backs.

Coady right back. Mcginn restored to midfield.

He won't get up the wing, and if he does he won't get back in time. Most likely he'll join play, stop, and attempt a cross from deep. That's worse than useless with Taylor the only man to hit.

In our system we need fullbacks hitting the byline regularly. With one striker it's all about players joining from deep and going beyond defenders. Only Westlake is capable of that. In home games he's worth the defensive risk.

Callum Wilson linked by the Coventry Telegraph

Sheffield United are understood to be considering making a move for in-form Coventry City striker Callum Wilson.
The 21-year-old has made a sensational start to the new League One campaign, scoring five goals in five games for the Sky Blues while forming an exciting partnership with Leon Clarke.
The pair have produced nine goals between them with Wilson setting up the more experienced centre-forward for his fourth of the campaign in Sunday’s eight-goal thriller against Preston, which is believed to have been watched by Blades’ boss David Weir and his new assistant Lee Carsley.
Carsley, who quit as City’s Under-21s/first team coach in the summer to join his former Everton team-mate at Bramall Lane, knows all about Wilson who was part of his development squad last term.
Wilson is believed to be one of a number of strikers United are monitoring and it remains to be seen whether they make a formal bid for the young player before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Weir has been told he has funds available to strengthen his squad and a striker and attacking midfielder are thought to be his priorities.

Can't understand why there is no news coming out if we have new players training with us and even current players have mentioned the fact and it looks like they were spotted at an open training session. No mention from Shields or the Radio Sheffield lot. It surely cant be that they can't be arsed to do there job properly and report on events that happened at an open training session. They can't be that incompetent can they ? :)

New Signings incoming? You will all be writing letters to Father Christmas next

You'd think given certain individuals insistence of reporting things before they've been completed/sanctioned recently, they'd be all over reporting a publicly accessible event :)

Was there anything to report? Can I do the [CONFIRMED] thing tomorrow?

Then we'll be writing them very early this year!

Dear Santa.....
Please oh please can we sign someone who can score goals at this level?

Oh Santa thanks for listening. While were on it can you have a word with the football gods for us as they have been taking the piss.
Thanks

I'll make sure there's something in your sack, my young friend!

The only difficulty might be the contract. The player is insisting on a Santa Clause!

Ho Ho Ho.

...and the thread dissolves into a set of Marx Brothers quotes:

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

PLease accept my resignation from the forum. I don't want to belong to any club that will have people like me as a member.

So you want him to stay with the progressive 4-2-3-1 then rather than the tired as tested 4-2-2?

Well, I certainly think we should dampen our expectations before anything concrete is announced. We've heard it all before, so let's calm down until the facts are known.

Me? I'm off to renew my passport. Europe in 2/3 years! ;)
