Snowed off?

They were all right for goalies, though. Most people couldn't kick them very hard, and they went in a straight line, no dipping and swerving. There was no getting it up and over a wall from a free-kick. It was a bugger taking a goal-kick on a muddy pitch, mind.

The only way I could kick one of those more than 10 yards on a muddy pitch was to toe end the fucker.

Yes but it says from 4pm onwards tomorrow. Game will have started and be over before it gets really bad. See here:

It says an amber warning for snow on the met office site

I expect we'll wake up to a few inches and council will be round the lane with a clipboard.

A council worker in on a Saturday? You're having a laugh! That's why they postpone them a day or two before.

Actually (at school games) it was a bugger taking a goal-kick at any time.
Scored many a goal by just standing at the edge of the penalty area and just waiting for the goal-kick to trickle out of it :) - but then, we were the "remnants" (not good enough to be picked for the proper teams :()

If snow falls tomorrow then it will be soft and not too slippy. It is more dangerous on the pavements when there is a few days of snow and then it turns into hard snow/ice
It’s dangerous even if it’s just raining at the railway station. I’ve heard the announcements.

It used to be all about how the playing surface was. It you could play football on it, the game went ahead.

In this fucking stupid risk-averse culture, they will cancel a football game on a whim. Yet gigs at the Arena go ahead (the Brook fight went ahead after our last cancelled game, and that was at night), Town centre shops remain open, the theatres and cinemas don't close, Meadowhall doesn't close. Why is holding a professional football match deemed too dangerous when it snows, but no other activity is?

Amber one is for 4PM but the detailed forecast for S2 is showing heavy snow overnight tonight, and temps bat or below zero, so if that materialises the pitch may need a bit of clearing for it to go ahead.

Thanks. I will decide tomorrow morning whether to set off. I'm training it from London and will just have to take the £60 train fare hit. Could be worse.

We are training from Leicestershire....it's getting up there, watching the game then getting back to the station to find they have cancelled all the trains that concerns me!

Yeah that too. East Midland told me they plan running a full service tomorrow and that they will do everything they can to ensure customers reach their destinations in the event of disruption. Forecasts are often wrong.

Just started snowing in Fulwood. No worries. It's big sloppy wet flakes. Crap calling game off snow.

The game will be on. I can imagine it being league cup semi v spurs were it came down during 2nd half

That were a fuckin cold night!

After Louis Reed has his Tommy Mooney moment and crushed my cup final hopes for the Xth time, I trudged home in the blizzard up Chezzie Road, and a bus plunged through a massive puddle outside the White Lion, spraying me from head to foot in ice-cold filthy water.

The footballing gods were presumably falling about laughing by this point...

Absolute bollocks.

I have praised The Manager, Sharp, Duffy, Brooks throughout the season to name but four.

The board and owners are another matter, they have blown a golden chance of promotion with a lack of investment.
Yea I’m a moaning cunt got to be an age thing

Snowing heavy here in S5 but no sign of settling at all so far.

The forecast has worsened for tomorrow (today now) tbf so may get interesting. Used to love playing in a bit of snow with the orange ball when such things weren't life threatening like they are now.

Reporting from Ridgeway little bit of snow nowt serious 1,00 am

Not a right deal on here either so far http://uksnowmap.com/

Snow update Fulwood. Light flurries. Not settling on roads. Pathetic attempt.
