I wouldn't panic buy at any establishment where the sign writer had missed out the apostrophe in 'Snow's'... :(

I'm amazed that a lot of football games get called off nowadays after proving through the 60's-90's that a bit of mud and water still makes a game playable.

When I was a kid, our local village Calver, formed its own junior football team at U12 level We were shite, no doubts there, we put four villages together and we still didn't get the player numbers in the area to compete with some of the villages. Our first season was interesting. One of the first games of the season we played Dove Holes and the centre half had a full on tache! Turned out he was 16!

Anyway we'd be trounced every game and we went away to Hathersage, it was never a dry pitch even in the middle of summer. But this particular day was proper muddy. We'd played a number of games and still hadn't scored, when our young striker broke through rounded the keeper and tucked the ball away, before running off to celebrate like a young, white Brian Deane. Or so he thought. The ball had stopped in a puddle on the goal line. Gutted, I think we lost the game 5-0.

Hahaha! Used to "manage" the Hathersage kids team. "You'll win nothing with kids". Great book , but not as great as the role. 20+ year olds still talk to me (respectfully). Just cos I at least turned up every Saturday morning and arranged the games. Best of times.

Indeed. If I were panicking over where to buy my 18 loaves of bread and 35 large bottles of milk that would be my first concern. :)

My second concern would be why I'd just blown my emergency fund on bread and milk. :)

Its great that isn't it ,I was out in Sheff on Saturday night with some friends and bumped into 2 lads I used to coach ,who I know can be buggers. They were so polite and made a massive fuss ,leaving their friends and partners to chat for ages. Still playing at a decent standard now too.

Do you expect any thing before the game to mark the aniversary of Auschwitz being liberated?

Richard Littlejohn.

'I've remarked before about the eagerness of professional football to go into full Pray 4 Muamba mode on the flimsiest of pretexts.

The Premier League never misses an opportunity for vicarious grief. So I wasn't surprised to see Spurs players all wearing black armbands the other night.

Turned out they were a mark of sympathy for team-mate Nacer Chadli, whose father has just died. Fair enough.

For a moment, I thought they were mourning Deirdre from Coronation Street.'

.

All this talk of sloppy pitches and the Spurs International (tight wearing) Brigade neshing it...I give you Group 2 of the Spanish Third Division...from Asturias in the north...THIS MONTH.

This injury time winning goal was scored just a couple of weeks ago in the Spanish Third Division local derby between UC Ceares and Gijon Industrial.

And this was the game UC Ceares played away at Andes CF last weekend:

THERE WILL BE MUD

Why?

I go to games as a form of escapism to avoid mine and the worlds problems and I'm part jewish

I had a soft spot for Spurs when they signed Tony Galvin in the late 70s. I played with him in a University society game against the French society. They had a guy who played for St Ettiene, then the powerhouse fo French football, and were trashing evetyone. One of our team had been at school with Tony and persuaded him to turn out for us, even though he was pro-ing for someone else. We won 5-2, most of the goals from Tony's crosses. It was great to see him go on to get FA Cup and UEFA cup winners medals, and his gesture in turning out for us even outweighed his subsequent move to Wednesday.

I remember United were said to be tracking Galvin before he went to Spurs. Wasn't he from Huddersfield? Lovely player.

Not looking good for traffic after the game. I think we should encourage the THFC fans to stay away, I'd hate for them to be stuck up here in the north!! Leave the stadium to 25k screaing blades.

Looks like it'll be freezing. 1°C and wind speeds of 22 mph when the second half kicks off. That gives a perceived temperature of -5,7°C.

When I was in the army I slept in tents when it was -30°C outside, but sitting/standing for two hours in the above conditions will be worse.

According to bbc weather app light snow forcast for 6pm and 9 pm and heavy snow for 10pm
so penalties should be fun

Is there a chance that the match might be postponed tonight due to travelling fans safety concern or is our team suitably fit and rested? :-)
