Sneaking 2nd

If we have any chance of getting 2nd then we have to keep McBurnie out of the team as much as possible. And yes I am making him a whipping boy, because he's shite and I cant stand him.
Why hijack the thread with another boring attack on mcburnie? There’s already 17 threads about him, use one of those.

Currently Bournemouth have 62 points from 33 game - 1.9 points per game. Keep this up they will finish on 86 pts
Sheffield United have 57 points from 35 games - 1.6 pts per game. Keep this up we will finish on 75
But, since Hecky took over, we have averaged 2.2 pts per game. Keep this up and we would finish on 81 pts.

But 24 points from 11 is 8 wins, or 7 wins and 3 draws so that's a high bar. And Bournemouth's recent form has not really dipped - 13 pts from the last 7 still gives them 1.86pts per game to finish on 86

We only overtake Bournemouth if we keep this form or slightly better, and Bournemouth have a wobble.

But as someone else said on here, Leeds collapsed in the last 4 games, so its still game on!

The Leeds collapse isn't really comparable.

After 35 games that season we were only two points behind Leeds having both played the same number of games.

We weren't five points behind having played two games more.

Trust me, automatic promotion isn't gonna happen this season.

Stop teasing yourselves.

As i have always said, we just have to keep looking up the table, but lets be right, we're only just into the top 6 and there are still lots of games to go.

The current form we're in with so many players out of position and injuries is certainly encouraging, but it also relies on us managing the players we have available and not expecting too much from them when we are down to the bare bones...

Hopefully we should get a few players back soon. We got a decent amount of points in Feb when we had so many games, again keeping us in the running

But still a lot of games to play.

In November I said if we could still have something to play for promotion wise at the end of March we'd have swum the channel, we'll definitely have achieved that. Anything else is a bonus.

Not going to happen - but why not believe I suppose. Next 4 games are key for momentum and fitness. Can't take them too lightly, especially Blackpool and Cov.

It won't happen but we have to keep winning anyway just to make the playoffs, so if Bournemouth go shit and we do catch them, fair enough, if not we'll be in good form for the playoff final defeat

I agree, but Bournemouth have been up in the top two for most of the season (or it seems like it) been favourites for an auto place since the first game, Fulham have not only overtaken them, but opened a gap and continuing to put teams away with big scores.
Yes they have games in hand but with Huddersfield breathing down their necks, it will be interesting how they react, if after Saturday's games they aren't in the top two

It's on. Bournemouth look fallible and we have to play them again. Sure they have games in hand, but that adds to the pressure on them.
We owe the twats one as well. Absolutely robbed at their place.

Bournemouth have a pretty easy run of fixtures coming up.
Granted, they drew with Peterborough but they're not going to throw away a 5 point lead with 2 games in hand with the small amount of games that are remaining.

We need to make the play-offs secure as soon as possible and then rest our key players. We can beat anybody in the play-off mix, I'd have no qualms finishing 6th.

We're stretched with injuries yes, but we've also just got our run of rearranged games out of the way and come out of it pretty bloody well. We've a couple coming back in and a few weeks ahead with 1 fixture instead of 2 (only Blackpool and QPR left as midweeks).

I hope Fleck's injury isn't too bad and we'd only be 1 or 2 obvious injuries away from it all blowing up....but if not, no reason at all why we can't do it (especially with Bournemouth to play at home).

It's looking a big ask, particularly if Bournemouth manage to get something out of those games in hand. We're relying on them getting tired out having to play so much football and continuing to be pretty ordinary.

We've negotiated our extra games very well aside from the result at Millwall. Even if we beat Bournemouth, I feel like we'd still be a little way off them just because of how poorly we started the season.

What we want for the first time ever going into the play offs is no significant injuries, poor form, rape charges, going 3-0 down at half time, mad 5-5 draws or anything else to derail things like we normally get.

Huddersfield, Blackburn and Luton as it stands are not teams to be fearful of.

If MGW stays fit he'll win us promotion, he's that good.
