Don't know how much truth there is in it, but here goes...

My dad was playing golf with some people that know the club, and they claim Jordan Slew has signed for Fulham. He doesn't know whether to believe them or not, but he did say that they didn't seem to be taking the mick.

oh the day just goes from shit to effing terrible

i wonder what kind of contract he is on. we should just say a fee of 10m and nothing less and he's yours. unless (as is united) he can walk for peanuts.

10m would mean kev can build dw a nice holiday home in malta.

Would not surprise me if this is true.

The real surprise would be how low will the transfer fee be.

you wouldnt take less than 7m for a young english striker with his potential-but even that wouldnt put the premier league teams off the bastards.

7m would be a good injection into the team though I guess...but it won't go back in. Who knows what'll happen. Probably sell, get him back on loan, he'll score 20 goals, and he'll be recalled the night before we play the pigs...

If this has any truth in it it makes a mockery of McCabe's committment to youth. Surely he learnt from having sold the Kyles? We would likely be much better off both in the league and therefore financially if we had kept them. Don't make the same mistake again for fuck's sake!

mccabes commitment to the academy is that we bring players through to sell to keep the club self financing - those were his words at the AGM in 2001 - hes already shown thats his remit with the kyles. do not be surprised to see him leave... excuses such as couldnt match their wages, when the premier league come knocking etc....

If you were Slew would you want to stay after todays farce?

I wouldnt

Yes. Moving when unproven will ruin his career. Naughton went for around 4mill, remind me where he ended up in the long run.... on loan in the CHAMPIONSHIP, and he most probably will be next season.

Don't really give a fuck anymore. If they sold Slew then it just cements the demise of us at present. Very pissed off with whole situation.

As i said, i have no source, its literally just heard off someone who claims to have been told it. I personally have no idea if its true, just thought i'd post anyway, to see what people thought of it.

remind me where he ended up in the long run....

Go on?

Oh sorry, LONG run? I thought you meant the LONG run!

We all know the kid will play for England and a Premier League team in the long run, but he's still a fucking kid, unless I'm very much mistaken. He's got ten years at the top level, yet.

Also, using the Kyles transfer as an argument for why Slew shouldn't go is a little flawed - yes one hasn't (yet) lived up to the expectation, but the other (despite only haveing a handful of appearances when sold) is in the England squad after having a cracking season on loan at Premiership bound QPR then finishing it off by becoming a key player for Aston Villa!!!

BTW - SSN confirm that Fulham are "in talks" with us for the purchase of Slew :-( i.e. negotiating a transfer fee of £250k upfront and a bag of peanuts for every year he's there no doubt!

Oh dear...

UTB!!!

7 mill for slew and i'd bite their hand off. I cannot see him ever being premiership class. It'd be best all round for him to stay with us.

Just been on Sky Sports that Fulham are in talks.

AFC Sheffield United is looking more and more appealing.

Fulham wont spend 7mil, 5mil, 3mil on an unproven league 1 youngster.
McCabe needs to keep hold, ive no problem if he gets us promoted and then goes to a prem club for big money, thats football at the end of the day, but how anyone can even think he's worth 7,5 or 3 mill is a bit of a joke anyway, the boy has hardly played and i dont think he can be compared to the kyles as i think they are superiour in the talent dept to him anyway.

Good young english players ESP Strikers are worth there weight in gold with the new UEFA rules coming into place..........
If we sell him for peanuts then it just confirms that were headed for league 2.

Bid turned down according to RS tonight

Just a temporary delay

Followed by we can't stop him leaving if a prem club comes in for him

Yes you can Kev, he's under contract.

Every player has his price, no argument with that, but you can't wait to get shut

If you could sell all the academy lads tomorrow, they'd be gone.

Your short sightedness borders on obsession

You claim to want them integrated into the 1st team squad, yet how can they if you are selling them?

Who's the other one on the brink anyone know? NE prem club are chasing him. It could be Kennedy. I say that only because there was a get together apparantly yesterday of the academy squad, but Slew and Kennedy were missing

The best crop of youngsters sold before they have barely played for the first team.

Id be genuinely surprised for Slew or Maguire are here at the start of the season.

We are not Man U or Arsenal that produce a production line of talent that can be cashed in because they are not top 4 PL class.

As I posted elsewhere, he is raw but talented. I'd take 2mill, appearance money and a sell-on clause provided the money went into a couple of decent new players

Dear Kevin McCabe,

Unless a team comes with a ridiculous offer for one of our youngsters, and by "ridiculous" I am talking "more than ten million" then tell them to fuck off.

You are allowed to turn down offers for players you know. You don't have to take the first wanky offer that comes along, or even the second or third.

So tell them in no uncertain terms to fuck off. You might find it strangely liberating.

Lots of love, SV.

P.S. You can be nice and polite if you like, but a strong, firm "fuck off" does the trick every time. Except for some reason with members of the local constabulary, but that's a story for another day.
