It comes down to clubs wanting people to go to games, every time they redo the TV deal they do increase the number of games available but every time people still want more.

Some clubs were resistant to the previous deal where clubs could stream their own games if they weren't on TV and not Saturday 3pm as they didn't make much from it, while other clubs did, so they came up with the current Sky Sports+ thing where all clubs get a guaranteed amount rather than clubs with more fans selling more streams.

Problem is situations like yesterday where the TV deal doesn't cover the games as it's not a designated midweek but it's not actually a Saturday afternoon where people can attend easily either. There's nothing Sky can do to show them all and nothing clubs can do either, until it gets to the next TV rights deal where they either get rid of the Saturday blackout so all games can be shown, or at least make allowances for situations like Christmas where calling Monday a Saturday doesn't make sense.

Frankly that's precisely how any streaming proposition should work.

Of course the clubs with bigger fanbases will want the revenue split by their subscriber numbers. That should be resisted.

The only thing I will say is that at nearly 80 years old I used to go to all matches home and away but then I had a second stroke which makes difficult and very tiring to go to away matches that is why I thought it would be a good idea to get together to try and change the rules so those supporters who cannot attend could watch their team play

Without wanting to go off on a tangent that is part of the reason so many Americans are buying English sides.

They believe that the revenue from broadcast deals in this country is currently undervalued and want to take advantage at some point.

They see what Real Madrid and Barca do in Spain with how they generate broadcast income and want a piece of that pie, so to speak.

Well yes, but they could do with looking at how successful the NFL is with it's rights deals - and that is split equitably.

I do foresee an (attempt to) end promotion and relegation in the next 10 years though

Although you probably aren't wrong which is the worst part of that statement, if they did that it would they would have to look at what the offering is. I can still see the "European Super League" having momentum in that time period and say if 6 sides from England were moved into that and didn't play domestically the shift up the leagues would even the Premier League out however it would be a lot weaker.

That could be the point that the Premier League down to League 2 (4 leagues) becomes the professional divisions. You have the feeder clubs/ semi pros under that and you would either pool the teams together similar to how the League cup 1st round draw works for fixtures across the divisions and have a playoff style winners across pools like the NFL or similar or you keep the divisions but still keep promotion/relegation just that you can't go that far down, i.e. League 2 is the dropping point. Bring in strict FFP, scrap the League cup and EFL trophy but keep the FA Cup in it's traditional format. Put the prize pots of the EFL trophy & League into the FA Cup.
 
I was watching the FA Cup games yesterday and the first game was just finishing so I was looking on my box for the next game. The FA cup seemed to be all over the place, some games on BBC and some on TNT, but there were no 3pm Cup games on UK tv. Fair enough, I know the black out is in place and the rule as per the BBC:

Given that yesterday was the FA cup, like international weekends, it’s a good chance for many to attend lower league games as well

But on my schedule for Sky Sports there was Arsenal v Man U at 14:30. Knowing that it was during the black out and FA cup 3rd round ties struggle to get attendances at lower league level. Our neighbours game against High flying Brentford didn’t even hit 10,000 yesterday. This is a club that took 800,000 to their most recent League one play off final.

Why then is the “WSL” exempt from the 3pm black out? I thought they wanted equality. Are we saying that WSL is more important than our neighbours in admin?
 
Three of United's early season fixtures have been selected for live coverage by Sky Sports.

Firstly, the Blades' Carabao Cup first round tie at Mansfield Town will take place on Sunday 9th August, kick-off 4pm, with the game to be broadcast on Sky Sports Football.

Then, moving into September, United's home clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers has been pushed back to Sunday 13th September, kick-off 12noon, again this will be live on Sky Sports Football.

Lastly, in this round of selections, the trip to Stoke City on Saturday 19th September, will now kick-off at 12.30pm, with this match to be screened on Sky Sports+.

The latest picks follow the announcement last month that United's opening league fixture against Birmingham City at Bramall Lane had also been chosen by the host broadcaster. For clarity, this is set to take place on Saturday 15th August, kick-off 5.30pm.

Didn't realise the Birmingham game was a late kick off. Just booked my train ticket back after the game. Should get back about 1am :rolleyes:

The reality is that every single team in the EFL are guaranteed at least 20 of their games to be shown live so virtually half of them will have some sort of change attached. Bear in mind even the midweek fixtures where every game is shown is live could be either the Tuesday or the Wednesday as well.

This is the norm for the next 4 seasons at the very least.
 
12 noon KO on a Sunday...............dunno if i can be arsed to watch Jimenez rip our sleepy defenders a new one...glimpse the future on Monday 1am from the Azteca.....think i will stay in mi hutch.

1.00 am is 6.00 pmin Mexico you saying it should be changed to suit our needs
 
Yes youve got to be ultra flexible or desperate to fit in with reorganised fixture list .... just makes attending more difficult if your not local.
