Yeah, he's there to please the middle aged blokes and help them to remember that football was way better back in the day.

Rooney's honesty during the World Cup, especially about how he hated the half time performance in the final whilst everyone else tried to be diplomatic, really made me like him.

He spoke like a normal man who knew his stuff and was just having a good time

This might not be to everyone’s taste but in the summer, during the World Cup there was one pundit who was a country mile ahead of everyone else.

Emma Hayes

She called everything as she saw it, she gave a lot of clever insights in to the tactics being deployed but did in a way that explained it well, her analysis added value to whatever game I was watching.

Some pundits are fucking awful, Jay Bothroys is the biggest pillock on Sky Sports News which gets less watchable with every passing season.

For me it would be wright , Rio and scholes, a lot slate carragher but if you actually watch and listen to how he dissects and analyses a game afterwards he is very knowledgeable and talks a lot of sense, whereas the majority of others just say what they think people want to hear , scholes just has the most monotone voice imaginable and doesn't have the necessary skillset for broadcasting unfortunately however knowledgeable he may be he just isn't engaging ,

Yeah, can't disagree with that. I can see why Rooney struggles as a manager though as i don't think he's a natural talker. He struggles to articulate and get his words out and i think whilst you can see he's a decent person, it probably doesn't make him a great communicator as a manager.

He's not like Gary Neville, very polished and speaks very well, but talks some right bollocks when he's commentating. Part of the reason i like Scholes, Keane and Rooney is that they all call Neville out. They know him and have known him since he was young, so there is not bullshitting them. Neville also takes himself too seriously, he's trying to be a politician, but in doing so, just becomes a bellend
