The half time substitutions changed the game.

Apart from one wild shot Quinn didn't put a foot wrong and controlled the tempo of the second half.

While Quinn was running the game Cresswell was running his blood to water.

Well done those two lads and well done DW for the making the changes.

Do you think Quinny brought anything to the game tonight?

How dare you question the great Sitwell. This man knows it all about football and isn't afraid of telling everybody so if I were you NYB, I'd leave it.

Think the midfield in general played well second half. This is how to start on sat. Even if Macca is fit I would only have him on the bench and only bring him on if needed

Midfield looked miles better second half. Doyle needs someone like Macca or Williamson at the side of him. Someone who is comfortable on the ball and can distribute after Doyle has won the ball and done all the spoiling. Ertl offered nothing and I for one was glad to see him get the hook.
However, Scunthorpe did give us a lot more space second half when they were trying to protect what they had got. First half they were in our face constantly like a terrier puppy but there was no way they could have kept that up for 90 minutes.

He's been playing poorly, in my opinion, and being rested/dropped seems to have sparked him up a bit. Good management and a good reaction from the player. I've said often on here he's got it in him BUT it doesn't come out often enough.

The team needs someone who can hold the ball and play a bit, that said he takes 20 touches when 2 would be enough.

He looked even more left footed playing on the right than he normally does, can't believe their RB didn't suss it out. Provided the spark last night though and seemed to link well with Willo in the middle.

Whatever people were saying about the subs on Sunday, DW certainly got it right last night.

Only created one goal and scored another so no, he didn't bring much to the game.
You did realise I was being sarcastic didn't you? Sitwell never has a good word to say about him and I was just wanting to get his view on the substitution. Don't suppose he'll think Quinny had any bearing on the improvement whatsoever.

Of course he did and always should do ,the fact that he will probably go missing for another half dozen games now is my problem with him. He was the fault with the pig goal on Sunday ,watch the replay and see him realise that he's not done his job too late. He needs a regular kick up the arse but he is a talented player. We had no one showing for the ball last night in the first half and Wilson did right bringing him on. I thought Williamson was superb and worked well with Doyle. I also thought Scunthorpe were one of the better teams we've played this season.

Oh and Micalijo - jog on bore.

Definitely agree about no-one showing for the ball in the first half. You have to credit Wilson for the subs, changing the formation (with Doyle and Willo dropping deeper to collect the ball) and changing a teams' attitude and confidence regarding wanting possession of the ball.

Was the same situation on Sunday though and an earlier switch could've seen a different outcome.

Yep got the subs spot on last night.

Just gutted he couldn't of made changes that early on Sunday but that's hindsight for you.

Sign of a decent manager; learning from his mistakes from game to game. Just like we picked ourselves up after defeats against Charlton and Birmingham. Wilson definitely learnt a lot after the rough patch earlier in the season. Nice to see!
