Best news I've heard in ages. A great player but an absolute jinx from the day he joined the back rooms staff. The Blades are going up!!!

Think that was more to do with shit managers and even shitter players than it was Morgan.
Hard to put into words what he meant to this club.
When United had a reputation for being an absolute nightmare to play against whether we won, drew or lost. At the heart of it was Morgan. When Bramall Lane had a reputation for being one of the toughest grounds to get a result from, he was one of the main reasons why.
He defined the 'Blades Way' before it became a slogan and at our best, the team 'United Together' under his captaincy before it became a hashtag.
I wish him every success.
Very risky move for him to leave a reasonably secure job. He could be out on his ear in six months.
It's either Morgan or Dooley's statue or both.
But if he wants to be a manager one day, and I'm led to believe he does, becoming a number 2 is the best way to do this.
Hope to see him in a managers seat one day. Hopefully ours.
When I saw the title I thought who the hell is Christopher Morgan-Farewell? some posh bloke?![]()
Had he turned down Chesterfield then in 6 months time he could haved ended up somewhere like Gainsborough Trinity too. In football you have to decide on what path you take! It's more likely he will end up at Gainsborough Trinity

Based on what?

Agree that going up or down in the league management ladder can be down to luck. Wait and seeThere are far more would be managers than there are jobs, he's going to need to be very good and very lucky to get on the league management ladder.
I had hoped there would be a better one.
I guess you Bert are in the Pinchy school of " Morgan will never make a manager while he's got an oyle in his arse".There are far more would be managers than there are jobs, he's going to need to be very good and very lucky to get on the league management ladder.
When you watch some players over such a long period they become part of you. Some are only ever going to be good players and not good managers. Chris Morgan is one of those in my opinion. Whenever he speaks it rarely adds value, but what a man to have "in the trenches alongside you", not a leader though in my opinion, which is from afar I have to say, just a fan.
When I travelled to the car park to protest about Wilson's appointment at Bramall Lane ( not because he was ex-S6, just because he had a very poor C.V.) Morgan was wheeled out to provide the link on the day and to give Wilson credibility in Blades fans' eyes, so it is a natural move for the man today. Good luck to him, but I don't expect to see him back.
I think the break is good for Morgan and good for the club. We need a modern approach with the U-21's and this two way loyalty has been bad for both Morgan and the club. We need to be a progressive club with a refined and progressive approach at all levels, not old cronies the " Bladeyway".
