Sir Christopher Morgan- Farewell

Very risky move for him to leave a reasonably secure job. He could be out on his ear in six months.

Probably the best move for both parties, definitely for him.

What a rock he was for us. He could single handedly make you feel pride in the team. He represented us brilliantly.

Had he been able to recover from his injury and play for us in League One we'd have been promoted with ease at the first attempt, without a shadow of a doubt.

Hard to put into words what he meant to this club.
When United had a reputation for being an absolute nightmare to play against whether we won, drew or lost. At the heart of it was Morgan. When Bramall Lane had a reputation for being one of the toughest grounds to get a result from, he was one of the main reasons why.
He defined the 'Blades Way' before it became a slogan and at our best, the team 'United Together' under his captaincy before it became a hashtag.
I wish him every success.

Fine words Tyler, agree with all of that.

Top bloke.
Blades legend.

Hope things keep progressing for him on the coaching/management side and I'm sure we'll see him working back at BDTBL at some point in the future.

All the best.

I was told on my way to work on the 23rd that he had been in talks at Chesterfield. Told two of my workmates about what I had heard. One of them said that Danny Wilson is going to be appointed as Chesterfield's new manager and wondered who was going to be his assistant as he was told that Frank Barlow was supposed to have retired.

Am sad that one of my favourite players (since I started following the Blades in 1970) has left us. Not saying that Adkins should have kept him as I am a believer of a manager wanting his own backroom staff (I have said that part of Man U's current problems is that the club insisted on Ryan Giggs to be one of the coaches whoever the manager might be)

Good Luck to Chris!

But if he wants to be a manager one day, and I'm led to believe he does, becoming a number 2 is the best way to do this.

Hope to see him in a managers seat one day. Hopefully ours.

It's more likely he will end up at Gainsborough Trinity

He mentioned at the 'evening with' that he felt he'd have to go away in order to come back as a serious contender for the managers job in the future.

Good luck Chris. Thank you.

When I saw the title I thought who the hell is Christopher Morgan-Farewell? some posh bloke? o_O

That's what I thought and I didn't even read the topic, and only when I went on facebook and a mate commented on it did I realise! He'll be sadly missed!

Had he turned down Chesterfield then in 6 months time he could haved ended up somewhere like Gainsborough Trinity too. In football you have to decide on what path you take!

There are far more would be managers than there are jobs, he's going to need to be very good and very lucky to get on the league management ladder.

So it's true then?

Very sad (sort of like the club having a limb chopped off) but got to be a good move for him - he can't just stop in a neverending comfort zone here.

But I'm confident that he'll make a big success of it & that it won't be long at all until he takes over from Danny there. He's done a sterling job for the u21s, especially this season, having them playing some very decent football along the way.

The epitome of the phrase Club Legend if ever there was one.

All the very best, Morgs.

Certainly is the end of an era.

Who is left at the club who Adkins can point to and say to the current squad 'that's the type of character the fans demand?'

Is this the huge news we were expecting in January?

Agree that going up or down in the league management ladder can be down to luck. Wait and see

I wish him all the best for the future.

He may one day be back at Bramall Lane as our manager.

When you watch some players over such a long period they become part of you. Some are only ever going to be good players and not good managers. Chris Morgan is one of those in my opinion. Whenever he speaks it rarely adds value, but what a man to have "in the trenches alongside you", not a leader though in my opinion, which is from afar I have to say, just a fan.

When I travelled to the car park to protest about Wilson's appointment at Bramall Lane ( not because he was ex-S6, just because he had a very poor C.V.) Morgan was wheeled out to provide the link on the day and to give Wilson credibility in Blades fans' eyes, so it is a natural move for the man today. Good luck to him, but I don't expect to see him back.

I think the break is good for Morgan and good for the club. We need a modern approach with the U-21's and this two way loyalty has been bad for both Morgan and the club. We need to be a progressive club with a refined and progressive approach at all levels, not old cronies the " Bladeyway".

I stood behind him at a U-21's game, it was "basic" believe me.

Good luck and thank you though Morgs. You could not have put more in while you were here. Shame it's Chesterfield and not Barnsley. or maybe not thinking about it.

I guess you Bert are in the Pinchy school of " Morgan will never make a manager while he's got an oyle in his arse".
I'm not one for predictions, but I'll stick my neck out and say Chris will one day get a bosses job, maybe at Chez? or back at the Lane, just feel it in mi watter.

Agree. Legends do not always make good managers.

Good move for Morgan and a good move for SUFC.

Makes you wonder why Wilson has taken him on if he's after his job.
