And the response from across the city has got more and more desperate and bitter. I've had one tell me today that we'll lose and they'll win on Sunday, so we'll "only" finish 21 points above them and 2nd place counts for nothing.

It's the best time of my blades-supporting life. Keep giving it to them at every opportunity...they're hurting like they never knew they could, and it is fucking hilarious.

Definitely the best promotion I have ever experienced. So many things have come together and it's actually happened. Blades fans for manager, chairman and owner and we go up might be the best sub plot but there are others too. The 6 years in League One, the lack of money spent, the underdog theme, the fact it's the first time in The Premiership for almost all our players, the celebrations going viral,....

I've consistently said on this forum all season that we can do it, I've had a real belief right up until the last game where nerves, and possibly a mild heart attack, slightly and understandably got the better of me. Yet despite that, I think that the part of my brain that deals with logic is not allowing promotion TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE to filter through just yet. Not got an issue with dragging out though!

I also watched the Duffy goal again today -if you haven't done so recently I would suggest you stick it on tonight, it really cranks the current euphoria up another notch. In for a penny.

I'm the same. 25 years a Blade, watching us be always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Watching us ALWAYS fuck up when it really matters. It's hard to accept that that is all in the past. This is the new United, this is Chris Wilder's United, and we're not bottlers anymore. We've done it, and we've done it in style. I think it will finally hit me when the fixtures come out, and we see Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs coming to the lane!

Agreed. The spine of the club being red and white is probably something that we are never likely to witness again, I can't remember another example in football. I dont see that as being bladey in any way whatsoever. That's what has made this so very special and probably something that's not fully understood from outside our bubble.

It's a bit of a sobering thought to know , like everything, it will end possibly more quickly than it started. It's just a very special time and has been since the juggernaut started to gather momentum in league one, and at this moment in time I'm living the ride and not looking for the cliff

It doesn’t have to end though does it, or at least not anytime soon? That again is our old way of thinking. This club is big enough to be a long term member at the top table and we should now be looking to follow in the footsteps of other clubs our size (and smaller) and be up there at least more often than we’re not, maybe even win a trophy. Let Wilder build it for now with the right backing from the top and when he does go hand over from a position of strength, not panic.

It is probably the most glorious, money-spinning, celebrated and life-changing second place in sport.

Absolutely made up for you mate. When I was 32 years of age the Blades had never finished lower than 12th in the old second division, todays Championship.

Shall we say it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride since then?

My favourite manager has always been John Harris up until now. He assembled the team of Curry, Woodward, Badger,Carlin, Dearden, and the rest of that great team/s.

Given the way that the game operates today with the financial imbalance between the Big Clubs and the rest of us I would say that Wilder and Knill have exceeded that achievement.

I enjoyed the Bassett years in terms of the success we had, but wasn't that pleased about the methods employed to achieve it. What we have now is football that is a joy to watch, we are a footballing team, long may it continue. It's supposed to be an entertainment and that's exactly what it is under the current management. We can win 5-0 Sunday and still finish second . But will finish on 91 points which is a good total . We have achieved what we wished for which is the main thing . Would be nice to get the title too though. 2 titles in 3 seasons has a nice ring about it
