No games left are there. He said they were fit. Thats all.

Don't think either will feature in the first few games of the season, think he will want them but 100% and ready to go, not rusty, this is how he proceeded in the end with Clarke, think Ched and Baldock will be the same, we have enough in terms of cover in both areas and with the keeper think it will be a very close call between Eastwwod and Blackman to who starts.

Don't you think Eastwood will not get a fair chance?

I think it will be harsh on Eastwood who as gone about his business in a very professional way and deserves at the very least a proper look at, I know George Long was thrown in too quickly, but Eastwood seems to be made of very different stuff, but no fear if it is Blackman as I am sure Wilder will be the better judge of the situation.

I have a sneaking feeling that he will pick Eastwood in goal against Brentford.

Hope so anyway. The lad really impressed me in the games that he played, looked very confident and didn't put a foot wrong. And he's our player, so why not play him, instead of helping Chelsea out by developing their players for them.

If you're good enough, then you're old enough, as they say.

Nothing against Blackman by the way, just think him and Eastwood are at about the same level.

Either way, a nice conundrum for Wilder to have to deal with. Two very good understudies, before Moore gets his fitness back.

I think it will be harsh on Eastwood who as gone about his business in a very professional way and deserves at the very least a proper look at, I know George Long was thrown in too quickly, but Eastwood seems to be made of very different stuff, but no fear if it is Blackman as I am sure Wilder will be the better judge of the situation.

On a serious note no I don't. Not because Eastwood isn't good because clearly in pre season he has proved he is, but for 2 reasons.

1. Eastwood has zero league experience and I don't think Wilder will gamble even only for a few games in the Championship, although Eastwood may get a cup match but even then we have lost the Johnston's Paint or whatever it was called. Blackman, although he has no Championship experience or league one for that matter but he did have a full season in league 2 and did very well.

2. You don't loan a player off Chelsea and not play him. Simple as that. Maybe this could have been reason 1 and 2. Reputably Blackman is on £13,000 a week. I imagine we will be paying perhaps half of that. Blackman will have been told he's coming to play and if not told outright Chelsea will have been told that. Imagine if we didn't play him and wanted another loan off a Prem club? It simply wouldn't happen.

3. A bonus reason here. What would it say about Wilders decision making if after tracking him all summer (whether true or not). Our number one choice (whether true or not), he then puts Blackman on the bench and plays an untried youngster.

That's my reasoning and short of injury Blackman will start.

The problem here is that there is no such thing as a minor knee injury. The 4-6 weeks will probably stretch until Christmas and then we'll have "recurrence of old knee injury" periodically thereafter. Hope I'm wrong as Moore was our unsung hero last season.

agree with all that make sense, just thought he should be in with a shout but as you say no league experience.

I think when Moore is back it may be different. Of course if Blackman is doing fine then I imagine he will stay in goal. But if he has a prolonged major wobble and starts chucking em in then Moore assuming he's fit may regain his position and maybe Blackman back off to Chelsea in January, leaving Eastwood as number 2.

Off course Chelsea by giving a long contract to their is it number 5 keeper? may just be in effect shoving him in the shop window with a view to a sale. Blackman although decent hasn't had a stellar career so far (yes money wise..) but by 23 nearly 24 he may have been expected to play at a higher level than league 2.

There are so many variable really but that's why we rattle on about footy on a forum. If we really knew whats what, we'd be too busy preparing for the season ahead as manager to worry about a forum.....

Oh....and if Moore hadnt have been injured it would be interesting to see if that changed the choice of keeper we went for. But we'll never know!

A loan would be ideal for Eastwood maybe league 2 praps league 1 if the opportunity arose.

We've got to be careful with Eastwood, most of us at the time wanted Long to be given a go because Simonsen was making errors. We gave him a go and he messed up in the 4-4 (Exeter?) and his confidence went. I reckon CW will give Eastwood the cup games for experience and gradually build him up from there.

Could someone please explain to me the concept of match fit as opposed to just fit. With all the facilities, technology and physios etc you'd think someone would have worked it out by now.
