I personally am content with letting Adkins build his own team over the summer and having a crack with a side he's put together. If he does that and we're still on the slide/haven't improved by the middle of next season, I will echo the sentiments of the Adkins Out clan.
Having said that, he's got two big decisions from the off. One is Hammond, the other is McEveley.
Hammond simply isn't good enough. Pace is a huge, huge issue in this squad and he has absolutely none. The number of times we had men in decent space at Millwall and didn't take advantage of it by moving the ball faster was fucking infuriating. Look at dem poll results. If he signs permanently, Adkins will be hitting the rocks before he's left the bay.
McEveley has been crap for the majority of his time here. You could argue that he wasn't playing his best position for much of it, but overall, not good. Over the last few weeks he's played his best stuff for us and he's begging for that new contract. I personally wouldn't want to give him said contract, because I don't trust him to keep up the form he's shown recently and I don't generally think he's good enough. If he's backup to a better LB then I'll live with it, but if he's to be first choice next season, it'll be another big question mark over the gaffer's head.
So two big decisions there for me. Hope he gets 'em right.
