I was just thinking that before the season stated, even several games into it, not many would have predicted him being top scorer going into December.
He's doing so well, and looking like a very accomplished striker just now, I'm almost a bit embarrassed to never having seen the possibility before.
Here's my point. It will not have escaped the attention of any championship or premier league club, and some will doubtless be casting admiring glances his way. I can think of Everton off the top of my head who might see him as a short term fix ? There will be others I'm sure, so should we be worried ? I mean he really is our top striker right now.

Wolves will take him back home, knowing our track record.

Wasn't there some recent article about Villa coming sniffing now that Kodjia's out for a few months?

(There again, it was on one of those sites written by eight-year-old "aspiring journalists" so maybe not summat to get terribly worried about.)

Purple patch striker at the moment. How much would we want for him? 3/4 million no one is gonna offer that for him at his age with his injury record. And would he wanna leave? In short don't be daft (& fair play to wilder for not throwing a new contract at him just cos he is doing well)

It's great having older strikers, as long as they also happen to be pretty good. No-one else really wants them, so we get to keep them all for ourselves. Awesome.

We give Wednesday grief for having many so-called past-it players, or who are over the hill, but in truth most of our strike force could, on paper, fall into this category. Luckily they're also quite good, so it doesn't matter.

If he was younger, I suppose he could get a Marcus Bent-like career where he impresses in the Championship, gets signed by whoever is struggling in the Premier League, gets relegated anyway, rinse and repeat. But he's 32 and playing every week near the top of the Championship while scoring lots. Neither us or him should be looking for a move. In many ways he's priceless as nobody would throw massive wages his way, or pay a big transfer fee, and we'd never be able to replace him for what we'd get.

I think everyone's still scratching their heads trying to figure out what we've done to him.

Look, his age is against him. Regardless of what anyone says he's always been a good finisher and too many teams have forgotten that and tried to use him as a target man. Consequently, he's never settled anywhere for long and developed a reputation I don't think he deserves. If he's learned anything in his career as a journeyman it must surely be to realise that being at United right now is as good as it gets.

Yeah wait till he's playing crap, then offer him one, it'll cost us less :-)

Don’t get why we’d be worried.
He loves it here more than anywhere else he’s ever been. Playing his best footy whilst getting towards the back end of his career. Playing for a gaffer who’s worked his magic on him. In front of a crowd who adore him. Scoring goals for fun.
Other clubs won’t ignore the rest of his career and see him as too much of a risk or just having a purple patch before he starts sulking again.
As such, they’ll steer clear - and that is double-fine with me & I suspect/hope it’s the same for Leon & the club.
He’s going no-where.
Leeeeooonnn!!

There is as much chance of Clarke being poached away in January as there is Wilder being appointed boss at S6 and us taking Megson from WBA as replacement.

Are you on glue?

No one in the PL let alone Everton will bid for Leon.

Right.

Here goes.

Leon has dumbfounded me (and others) by masquerading as the £5m striker we can’t afford.

With me so far ?

Righdo. HONESTLY, who expects this to continue ad Infinitum ??

Truth is, there will be a “Peak” where it makes perfect sense to move a player on. Wether it’s Leon, Bill or whomever.

I’m not saying our top scorer should be sold to the highest bidder. Far from it.

But some times the lure of the dollar, both from a club and player perspective is too good to turn down. And makes perfect sense.

If, for example Villa were to come in with say £2m +, and Leon fancied finishing his career in the area he was born, do you think we should hold him back ? What good would that do ?

His stock is high, it’s obvious eyebrows beyond S2 will have been raised, so expect the unexpected.

The good news is I would have complete faith in our management team engineering a situation that benefits the club in such a scenario. A comparable, if not better replacement.

And with that in mind lies the bigger problem.

Losing the gaffer.

UTB

Why are so called followers of Sheffield United so determined to sell our players at the merest hint that they are quite good?
and the manager..and anyway Ched will be back soon and there's going to be humble pie for starter, main and desert
