Yeah, we can surely go to, what...5 losses in 5 league games? Maybe 10, that'd be hilarious! I can genuinely see it too. Can anyone really offer a credible argument against this actually happening? I doubt it given what we've seen so far.

It doesn't really matter though, does it. Ultimately we have an ownership group who have absolutely no idea how to run and manage a football club and seemingly no idea how to select a manager for a club in our position.

At least they're boosting their ego's though in America. They've paid Wilder off...for a second time - granted it wasn't them for the first time after he threw his toys out - and now they've sold good players off and replaced them with cheap AI nobodies. What can go wrong, eh?

I said lest week Selles wouldn't see October in post. He won't, but who comes in to work for this shower of unorganised shit? It'll take the a month to make a decision anyway given what we've seen so far so nothing is going to improve quickly.

I'm not panicking. I don't care enough to panic at the moment. I genuinely regret buying my season ticket though, for the first time in 40-odd years. Although, I guess I wouldn't be typing this if I didn't care.

This week is a very big week for the owners. Shag it up and we are toast in my opinion. They might as well start by sacking Selles anyway as we all know he isn't going to last much longer. More money down the fucking drain but it's their money. No good players with the required experience in and no spades in the ground as promised at Dore either as far as I'm aware.

Sort it out COH. So far you've just been a fucking embarrassment.

its too early. its the toughest thing as a football fan. because we just need to be patient, 3 games is too early to get rid of anyone & i think we have to at least ipswich.

but go if this goes 5 games 5 defeats 0pts. or even 5 games 1 draw 4 defeats & ipswich give us a heavy beating. then we can start realistically talking that he's got to go. even David Weir made it to October. got sacked after a run of, no win & 7 defeats in 9
Weirs league record was P10 W1 D2 L7. We also got through the first round of the JPT on penalties but then went put in the second round losing 1-0 at home to Hartlepool. He was sacked after that.

ill never forget his final press conference he was a broken man you could see

For me the guys inherited a squad significantly weaker than what Wilder had last seaosn. No Souza, No Anel, No Souttar, No Choudhury, No Rak-Sakyi No Moore.
I'm not sure any manager could do well with the current paper thin squad.
I would argue that a manager should be playing in a way which suits the team. the 4:3:3 clearly doesn't with the players we have. He hardly looked good last season with the players we had. Far too many players not playing to their strengths.

I'm not yet Selles out but at the same time I'm 99% certain that it's not going to work under Selles if that makes sense!? It's just very harsh to sack a manager after just 3 league games and that's like something Watford do but we know that unless things drastically change then Selles is not the man.

I was really impressed with Hull when they beat us. They played with a real defensive unity for starters and I believe Hull conceded the fourth least goals under Selles in the league from when Selles joined but right now we look far too open at the back and totally one dimensional going forward. If we can get a decent right winger in I'm sure we'll improve but we're not seeing this exciting, 100% effort football that we thought we'd get from Selles. It just seems like Slav all over again.

I know a few of our fans have said we should be able to do well without needing a Warnock type etc but I'm starting to think we just need to go back to basics and make us tough to beat for starters. Sean Dyche anyone?! I'd snap your hand off to have him if honest.

More realistically Danny Rohl anyone?! I think he'd accept it and we've seen how he got Wednesday defensively sound in his time there. Anyway, until Selles is likely sacked then it is what it is but he needs to get results and fast because I can't even recall a blades manager with a start as bad as this, ever. Even Slav did better than this.
Didn't Wilder lose a few in August 2016 ? Before he stopped the bus for a crate of ale

Disgusting

Some of the very same people who were criticising anyone slaggjng RND off after Bristol and saying he could have "mental health" issues are the same ones on here asking for a man to lose his job.

At the beginning of the 1995-6 season we lost our first 5 games.
I remember it started badly but can't remember how many we lost. That team was nowhere near as good as this one. Harry had vertually no money to spend and the team was way past it's best.

people wanted him sacked & rumours are if we had lost to oxford. history couldve been so much different. but i remember he changed tactics in 2nd half v oxford & things clicked

It's a tough call tbh. Sacking him now after just 3 league games would be a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. But there haven't really been many signs in the last two games that's made me confident that he's going to turn it around. He needs to come up with something quickly.

I still believe letting Wilder go was the right decision for what it's worth. But Selles' start here has been nothing short of a disaster.

The players are winding me up at the minute, they just don’t look interested. I heard people saying that they don’t look like they know what they’re doing in the system, well that’s just a bullshit excuse to me. They’re paid enough to play the system and know how it works.

I get attacking wise, there are tactics and plays, but defending is defending, it doesn’t change, so why the fuck can’t they defend?! Also if they’re that stubborn that they “can’t” play his system going forwards, they know how to play football and what works ffs.

Finally, one of my biggest gripes is the lack of leadership in the team, I watched our “captain” quite a lot today. He’s normally vocal and getting them going, he did none of that today, he’s got a CB partner who is young and has had his confidence clearly knocked and not once did his captain and partner offer any guidance. The guy is toxic and needs to be out of the club, sign Ben Mee ASAP

voted unsure, want it to work out for him, but just don’t see it and think eventually he’ll end up getting sacked,

do think he’s been stitched up on the players front, coming in trying something different but not being given the tools to do it,

For me the only explanation for Cannon on the right today was to send a message to the board that he wants a right winger, because it doesn’t bear thinking about that he might genuinely think Cannon could do a job there

If we sign mee and tanganga he’s going to have to try a different formation to see if that changes anything . If he stays playing like this he’s just asking for it

Was an appointment I felt was 20% likely to be a stroke of genius and 80% a disaster. Looking more like 5% / 95% now.

Nonetheless, I think 10-12 games is the point at which you make the decision. Enough games to implement his ‘plan’ and see what ‘style’ he has brought in.

Hence my vote for ‘not now’

Agree with your first paragraph

Regards your second paragraph, I don’t see these owners getting anywhere close to 10-12 games before making a decision.
Lose the next 3 (next two seems very likely) and they’ll pull the trigger imo.

Then it’s back to square one. Who next?

Really has me thinking about who else we spoke with and why/how Selles became first choice?!?!

Like you say, surely there were candidates out there with much stronger track records, yet we chose this guy over them.

Pretty sure when asked about his philosophy, playing one in midfield in a 4-1-5 formation wasn't his answer!
Or some candidates with some track record

I voted Yes.
I almost feel sorry for the man. He’s so clearly way out of his depth. Would he have faired better starting the season with Anel, Vinni and Moore???? We will never know.

What’s unthinkable is the realistic prospect of being 15 points adrift of the top 2 after the next 2 games and all of us worried we’re in a relegation fight!

What I’m fascinated to know is when the new owners decided to bin Wilder, WHO suggested and ultimately decided that of all the potential candidates out there for the job that Selles was the best option?

It was Bassett's final (half) season. The season of the McDonald takeover.
We started very badly. The fifth of those losses was at West Brom. We went down 3-1 and it really could have been more. Every time West Brom went forward they just poured through us. A bit like now🤣.
I'm not sure the side was much weaker than now. It included Kelly in goal, Blake, Veart, Hodges, Gayle, Nilsen, Ward, Whitehouse. Not a weak side by any second division standard of that time. We were expected to be challenging for promotion, but everything around the club just felt wrong at that time.
