Hi, Stegosaurus here,
I think it was clear early on that Wilder had lost the dressing room and we were going down. So, I think we should have poached Big Sam before West Brom did. He has a track record of keeping teams up, granted he's hardly set the world alight with West Brom, but, we are a better team than West Brom. With our players, Sam would have kept us up. Look at Enda, you don't go from as good as he was last season to as wank as he is this year without having serious issues with the manager--perhaps Big Sam being in the locker room would have got his pecker up again.
Some issues were a lost cause---Ramsdale being wank and unnerving the defence. Brewster being lazy and not caring. McBurnie not being able to hit the target. But, with Big Sam, a fresh change of tactics, a fresh face in charge, he may have turned things around and got the underperforming players like Norwood, Fleck and Enda playing again. Plus, I like to think Big Sam would have been man enough to send Lundstram packing to the U23s for the rest of the season--he was clearly a disruptive influence.
