I have been thinking we need a change for a long while. Tanganga does not seem like the commanding, vocal leader that we need for the captain role.

So I assumed his keeping of the armband must be performance based (lead by example) but he is relatively inconsistent. He's a decent championship centre back but nothing more, nothing less.

I would make a change in this department. We don't really have many suitable options and I know a lot of people are banging the Sydie Peck for future captain drum but as soon as Reidewald came on today, he had the calming influence on the grass and was extremely vocal.

Jairo Reidewald would be my pick for captain. Who would yours be?

Do we even have a vice-captain these days? Usually Hamer isn't it?

Not like the good times when it was Billy and Bash.

I wouldn't go with Peck, inexperience mostly.

Just give it Chong for the laugh till the end of the season. Then be serious next season.

I have no issues with Tanganga as Capt at least he shows some fight but can get drawn into a few personal duels .
Of the current starting 11 or there abouts I would only put a fit Jairo in front of him .
Maybe look to bring Peck through but he needs to mature a bit

I don't really think we have a single player who is captain material - maybe Sydie in a few years but he's too erratic in his behaviour. When we went behind last night there was nobody taking hold of the team and trying to get them going. Wilder must be looking to rectify this when his best team had Egan, O'Connell, Basham, Baldock, Norwood, Fleck, Sharp, Mcgoldrick to name a few all capable of doing this.

If we want someone who leads by example, it’s Jairo. We absolutely don’t want someone who loses their head so that’s Peck out until he matures.

Should not be in the team
Should not be at the club
Should not have signed him let alone paid his release clause of 1.5 million let alone the insane £7 million actually paid.
Who selected this clown?
(Yes I know Selles said he was the one he wanted but the signings then were all journeymen and clearly influenced by Wilder coming in with Ings McGuiness Chong Mee etc ie journeymen players for a journeyman manager NOT Selles who has a reputation (if any) with young players like Zatterstrom Ukaki etc)
It was Wilder who immediately made him captain.
it was Wilder who played him full back - where he is poor
Then LCB when he similarly was out of position and poor
Then RCB playing Bindon out of position where he manages less badly out of position (than Tangfanga)
He is a disaster waiting to happen.
Playing wise, temperament wise.
As for analysis and statistics - you only had to look at Wikipedia to see he was fundamentally undesirable.
5' 11 IS TOO SMALL.
Think there have been 4 x 6' 7" CF's signed in the Prem this season
Similar amount 6' 5"
and others 6' 3" like Isaks.
PLUS you can see he has NEVER been a regular player.
He is an old man with no experience of playing at a good level.
One season at the bottom of the second division with Millwall
Where like Cannon I never noticed him if he played against us.
Watch him almost any game you can see he has no pace to cover, no quality tackling/.defending or passing ((one good pass to the left wing last night which is unusual)
NOTHING.
As I said - another Cannon
Both big signings in this division under these owners have been a disaster
Weakening the team not improving it.
One could say like EVERY Wilder record signing.

This.

Standard setters are missing across this squad. Mee could have probably been this role, however he isn't able to reach the standard to be set due to age/injury.

Jairo is probably the closest, however he has not been starting every game so difficult to have a captain who isn't playing most weeks.

Are you Keen Blade 's twin brother? Your ranting style is like his!

I'd be looking for a better captain in the summer. Tanganga always seems to be moaning/arguing with refs. Probably not the positive leadership we need.

Having said that - I can't hear what he's saying and he might be praising and sympathising with the refs.

Tanganga isn’t a leader he’s too petulant and is just a player that needs to focus on his own game rather than in the ref’s ear

In fact this Fergie style getting at the ref’s is getting a little too much now.

The refs aren’t interested, we’re a dirty diving side in their view and we have to change that.

Last season seemed to be about togetherness and this seems to be pissing and whinging when things don’t go or way. Right or wrong decisions, just get on with the game

I'm amazed at the stick Tanganga gets. Then again the whole defence has had stick this season. Maybe the problems go deeper than Japh?
